They left the seeds of the oranges in the orange poppyseed pancakes, rendering them bitter and inedible. Otherwise the place would've been great! Friendly staff tasty food and quality ingredients. Would potentially come back for something non citrus!!

Fantastic food, service, everything. Make sure to bring cash and to try the cinnamon roll!

Had to check this place out on a random trip the SC for a night, walked in and had a burger pass that convinced us this was the place to stay. Got two seats at the bar in which we did not venture from the rest of the evening. Amazing pulled pork sliders and the BLTA was insane. Drank all night and had a blast. Kelly the bartender was friendly and helpful and his cousin was even more fun! Definitely the best choice for a chill experience any night of the week.

Loved this place but the last two times I was there I had immediate digestive issues. Just saying ...

Great homemade breakfast - thick crispy bacon, killer orange poppyseed pancakes & great dark roast coffee. The kind of place I'd like to have someday - very welcoming & reasonable prices.

One of the best breakfasts we have had in the Bay Area, so good, we will be driving to Santa Cruz from the Silicon Valley area to eat there on more weekends. Classic generous breakfasts with delicious updated twists and options, for example, homemade blueberry or mango with macadamia nut pancakes..."Oh yum.. which one do we share honey"? Fresh, fragrant, homemade, cinnamon rolls, like your Grandma used to make. Oh so Tasty, perfectly seasoned homemade corned beef hash, etc.. Service top notch as food. People clearly love this place as they were waiting outside on the benches to enjoy the food made and served with love and attention. Worth the wait!

This place is so tiny and cute. I loved it. There was a wait time as the place has limited seating but it was only 5 minutes. The wait area is outside but covered and they provided coffee. My husband ordered the bacon and cheeseburger and I ordered the stuffed grilled cheese. It was amazing!! Everyone recommended to go to Zachary's while we were there but I'm so glad I didn't listen to them as this place will be a go to anytime I'm in the area!

Meh. I finally managed to avoid the line around the block and get a table early on a Saturday. The food is basically what breakfast is like at any other restaurant that serves breakfast. The eggs were eggs, and the potatoes were potatoes. Decent food, but terribly underwhelming. I was expecting a lot more from the reviews and reputation. TL;DR: A place for old ass people and SC locals. Extremely overrated.

It's a hole in the wall, but an amazing hole in the wall. Didn't expect much when we walked in, but we left vowing to come back. Deserves every bit of 5 stars. Specials Board was amazing and so was the food.

Fantastical omelette... Artichoke and cheese wth that wonderful in-house salsa. Potatoes were perfect and the cinnamon roll, baked in a muffin pan, was superb. My wife thought it the best ever. Waiting to be seated, they serve their excellent coffee - good and strong. Everyone was super happy and helpful - it says a lot when a restaurant is so highly rated and they still go over and above to please.

The customer service here is fantastic, we had one of the best waitresses I've ever had during breakfast today! After she learned of my child's allergy, she really went above and beyond letting us know all the options, and that different items are are cooked in separate pans, etc. Just really fantastic. We visited at 9am on a weekday and had about a 20 minute wait. Place was packed! I hate to say that I really was disappointed with the food itself, especially given the high ratings. I think it is overpriced for what you get. The portions are large, which is nice for leftovers, but the quality just isn't where the price point is. Plating is a bit messy, and most of the food is more greasy than it needs to be. I got the Basil tofu scramble--flavor was just okay, it definitely needed salt, and the tomato in the dish seemed like they just tossed it on cold at the last minute. My biggest gripe with the dish is they didn't dry the tofu enough, there was a lot of water on my plate. The skillet potatoes were a bit unevenly cooked with some very burned pieces. The cheese they used was too thick and had zero flavor, I definitely prefer a sharp cheddar on skillet potatoes. The mushrooms were soggy and rubbery. The TeX mex plate was also bland. The chai tea was so watery we only took one sip and left the rest. It tasted exactly like the powder chai mix you can buy at Trader Joe's, and not in a good way. I feel so bad only offering 3 stars because the people who work there are fantastic, but after a disappointing $50 breakfast for 2 adults and a toddler, customer service can only go so far. I'll try it again one day and hopefully have a better experience.

this place was pretty good. I got the tostada omelette. huge portion size. all of the ingredients seemed pretty fresh. I got it with sourdough bread which I think was the local Beckmans bread(love that bread). either way it was delicious. the orange juice was perfect. he got one of the eggs benedicts with potatoes. didn't seem impressed but he ate it. the service was decent and the atmosphere was alright. just a little too cozy for me. but that's not unusual of breakfast spots in and around santa cruz .

Food is good, servings are MASSIVE. The breakfast bird (3 egg omelet, turkey, avocado, cheese) was probably bigger than a human stomach, and that's not counting the sides! Speaking of which... the most interesting thing about this place is the variety of sides. You can substitute potatoes with fruit or brown rice at not extra charge, and instead of just having different types of toast, you can also choose cinnamon buns or muffins. Cons: There is a massively long wait for a table, and no free coffee during this wait like another review mentioned (you can start having some, but you take your mug in so they can charge you $2.25). Another huge flaw is that this place is cash only. Parking is also limited.

  • Austin C.

It has its ups and downs. The service was great. My server was very nice and attentive to my needs. My water glass was never empty. However, the potatoes were not very good, and the turkey I got with my omelet was pretty flavorless. But overall it wasn't that bad. Probably wouldn't order potatoes or turkey again. It wasn't so bad that I would send it back. But it wasn't anything special. Another thing that annoyed me was that they don't take credit or debit cards. Cash only. They have an ATM that I'm sure charges $5 to withdraw from, plus however much your own bank charges you. Luckily I had cash, but it wasn't clearly written anywhere that they did cash only. I don't know what modern restaurant doesn't take debit, but they really need to get with the times. Overall, would recommend this place for their excellent customer service, but can't really say anything great about the food itself.

Another perfect Linda's Breakfast! Friday, 9:00 AM- just beat the rush and snagged a table for two without a wait! Always check out the specials board of the day! I had the amazing asparagus scramble and a potato pancake- so good! Fresh, young asparagus and a hearty scramble of savory veggies and feta! My BF companion had the lighter Hearts Ahoy- We both also noshed the homemade muffin of the day- butterscotch, so yum! Great prices, fast service, big portions, great flavor and variety. I come all the way from Monterey for this breakfast, definitely nothing else compares to Linda's. Here's the important scoop: * cash/ checks only! It's posted just inside the door, no whining about it, there's an ATM for the uninitiated. * can be a long wait on weekends, plan accordingly! * special homemade muffins and cinnamon rolls daily! * you can have all the egg dishes with tofu or eggs or a combo (yum!) * if you opposed to a dry turkey, avoid the breakfast bird. It is turkey afterall, what were you expecting?!

Trust me. I know food. This breakfast house is one of the best places throughout the coast. I recommend the Mendocino omelette and eggs Benedict. My favorite has to be the cinnamon roll. Simply the best! This is the place to visit ware all the locals Go. Everything that you order is grate. The service Excellent. They make you feel like you are in your neighborhood.

Opens early in the AM and a small spot that packs a punch. Finally I had an excuse to get up early and check this place out. The muffins are to die for. My boss and I got different ones (both the cinnamon and the pecan are winners) so we could test out the menu to the max. The omelets are huge (3 eggs) and each bite has a lil bit of all of the ingredients (versus being in one area of the omelet). The hash was well liked, and I was super happy with the castroville. Coffee was amazing.... overall will be back for the french toast!!! EFECTIVO ONLY kiddies (cash only) so bring ya 20s.

In the battle of the two top Santa Cruz breakfast joints, Linda's narrowly edges out Harbor cafe in taste, quality of food and portion size. Harbor Cafe however has a decidedly more spacious restaurant and the ambiance is significantly better. Linda's routinely has a very long line so if you are impatient, well actually, if you are impatient get over it, because the wait is absolutely worth it. Linda's is at the very least the second best breakfast place in Santa Cruz, if not number one.

  • Noel K.

Good place for a hearty breakfast. Ample parking with friendly waiters. The omelettes here are decent and this restaurant has the best salsa for its omelet :-). Even though this place is not the best breakfast/brunch I have been to, I rate this place a four because of its quick service, and it's a good place to catch up with friends.

Service was excellent, food was amazing, price was reasonable for the quantity and quality. Nothing to complain about. 10/10 Would come here again next time we're in Santa Cruz.

People here are incredibly nice. Service was great and our food was out quickly. The waffle I had was so buttery and delicious. It was not too chewy but it wasn't hard either. It was perfectly soft. Best breakfast I've had in Santa Cruz. Great food + Great Atmosphere + Full Tummy = Happy Heart.

Friendly staff, fast service and 5 star food. The eggs (over-medium) were cooked perfectly without much oil like you would see in a traditional diner. Chicken apple sausage was great, the fruit was very fresh and diverse (pineapples, honeydew, tangerine, oranges, strawberry and cantaloupe.) The homemade cinnamon roll that came with the meal was the best part. No frosting, very tastefully crafted. Not too sweet but sweet enough. It fell apart in my mouth. After the meal I wanted to go for seconds, or at least another cinnamon roll. Highly recommend

  • Rob S.

Amazing food but no credit card support for a breakfast spot required 30 minute detour on top of already long wait isn't easy to coop with. Square and other services make this a 3% fee for spots and some places value customers that much, others do not.

I just got back from an amazing vacation with my boyfriend - a week in the Santa Cruz area. One morning we were looking for a good breakfast place before kayaking and came upon great yelp reviews for Linda's Seabreeze Cafe. Needless to say, we were not disappointed! It's a cash/check only - seat yourself kind of place with hearty but yummy breakfast fare. We loved this place so much that we visited twice during our 6 day stay. The breakfasts are big enough to split. On our first visit, we split the pancake breakfast. The blueberry pancakes were full of fresh blueberries - a very special treat! On our second visit, we split the Seabreeze Spuds - nom, nom, nom! Highly recommend this place!

It pains me to write this review, but breakfast was a big disappointment. We've eaten here a few times before and it's been "okay", but we have other places that we prefer to frequent. This morning, on a whim, we decided to go to Linda's. The specials looked good, but I really wanted french toast. Unfortunately, the bread was too thick and wasn't cooked well enough - it basically tasted raw and lacked any flavor. Next time, I'll skip the french toast and go with the corned beef hash or something else instead. The service was fantastic, though.

I have literally created a yelp account to give this place poor a review. I know that you will gloss over this 1 star review and call me crazy, but if you care about your breakfast sanity don't!!! I came in here with three friends expecting a great breakfast. I ordered the highly raved about cinnamon roll, toast, and a side of bacon. First off, the cinnamon roll was dry. There was no frosting?!? Why would a cinnamon roll ever have no frosting? And to top it off... The side of bacon was $5.25!!! Four microwaved sup par bacon for 5.25?!? Seriously listen to me and don't waist your time.

Neighborhood spot. Been coming here for years! Friendly...always! I get hugs and smiles and I feel like I'm visiting good friends when I walk in. I never come on weekends because if the line but I come during the week with and without the kiddos. I feel comfortable either way! Great hearty food and they are cool with sitting plates, substitutions or whatever! It helps that I live around the corner too.

This place is just everything that is wonderful about a good brunch place. Small and adorable. Coffee while you wait (outside, on the side of the building). Attentive, kind, and fast service. Delicious food. I had the greek scramble with potatoes and their, I gather specialty, cinnamon roll muffin. My scramble was delicious, heavy on the fillings, which I prefer. Their homemade salsa was drinkable. I think we almost used the entire jar they gave us. The only slight negative was I wasn't quite taken by the cinnamon roll muffin. It was just ok, left about half on the table. Overall, excellent brunch spot in Santa Cruz!

This place is the real deal. Best breakfast I have had in a long time. If you are an artichoke lover get the artichoke omelet...so good. I came on a quiet weekday and was well tended to. Great service. Seemed a little pricey at first until I got my food..it was enough to keep me going all day and was well worth it.

Favorite breakfast place of all time, anywhere. The food is delicious and comforting. Everything i've ever had here has been amazing. The wait is usually quite long on weekends but its definitely worth it, and they have a coffee pot outside so you can have a cup or two while you wait. I recommend the special waffle (with whipped cream instead of yogurt or sourcream) and the scrambler (with green onions and mushrooms). And if they have it on their special board, get the basil scramble. Soooo yummy! Also, the best part: you can get a cinnamon roll or homemade muffin instead of toast (free of charge)!

We're regulars at Linda's. It feels like going to a good friend's house with friendly service and hearty breakfast. The Good: - Great service - Daily specials - Friendly wait staff and an always friendly owner - Decent, bottomless coffee - Fresh OJ! - Solidly and consistently good food - Great salsa - Fruit is always fresh - Coffee and outdoor seating if you are wait listed - Cinnamon rolls and muffins are typically great. - Kid friendly Other Notes: - Very small with limited seating - Peak days you will wait anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour - Don't wander near the apartments at the back or an insane woman will yell at you - We've met super nice folks waiting for seating! - Nice local color along with tourists

Delicious. I had the mahi mahi and eggs special with a cinnamon roll muffin. I hesitated on going here because the menu online looked really ordinary but they had at least a half dozen unique and inspired brunch specials and I had quite a bit of trouble picking just one to try. Everything tasted fresh and the service was friendly. Worth the 20 minute wait for a table with benches and coffee outside.

    (5)
  • Lou O.

Definitely worth the wait!!! Mahi mahi and eggs special was super good. Huevos rancheros was better than some I've had at mexican restaurants. Service was very friendly and the food came out in a couple minutes. We got there around 9:50 on a Sunday morning and there were tons of people waiting outside and we waited about 20 minutes (with coffee outside) but were seated, enjoyed our meal, and were out by 10:50! Overall, good experience. Next time I'd like to try some of the tofu dishes.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots. Unfortunately I live in the valley so I don't get here very often, when I do it's in the weekend and there is quite a wait to be seated at one of the few tables they have. The florentine omelette, sea breeze spuds and the cinnamon roll are all highly recommended. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I love this place, I just wish I could get here more than one every other month or so. :)

This restaurant makes me want to find Linda and give her a handshake and a hug and take her out on the town, because this has always been the best breakfast place ever. Omelets and scrambles here are amazing and filling. They give you more than enough food always. I am salivating just thinking about their muffins. OH THE MUFFINS. When you order an omelet or a scramble, not only do you get a heap of delicious savory potatoes, not only does it some with awesome homemade salsa but you get a choice of the muffin of the day (like falling in love, over and over again with every bite, halfway through the muffin, you notice the perfect moistness, but you cant tell if it was from the magnificent skill of the baker, or the tears of happiness rolling down your face as you're eating it ) or a cinnamon roll (a tornado of orgasmic sticky deliciousness that is only to be challenged by the muffin, and nobody f's with the muffin, except for the cinnamon roll) Coffee is watery, but bottomless and tasty so you dont have to worry about drinking to much And if there is a wait, there is a free self serve coffee while you wait for the glory that is to come. The waffles arent the best BUT JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS SUUUPERB The staff is awesome and friendly There is always a wait because everyone knows Linda will make your morning so happy better no matter how grumpy you arrived, so come early.

Over all, it was fine. I waited over an hour to get breakfast on a Sunday morning and by the time my friend and I were seated, it was "closing time". Obviously their closing time is more of a suggestion than an enforced rule because people were still being seated by the time we payed our bill and left. Because of the hour-long wait, I felt a little cranky and very hungry as we were seated. Also, it caused me to feel incredibly rushed as I read the menu and later as I ate. In such a busy and small dining space, you are definitely aware of the servers' desires to turn tables fast. Our waiter only gave us about two minutes to look at our menu before coming to take our order. I had only had the food in front of me for about five minutes before being given the check. Because of the rushed environment, I never got to relax and enjoy my meal. Also, to be honest.... The food wasn't even that good. If there was no wait to be seated, maybe this place would be worth the visit....... MAYBE.

  • W W.

We ate here because it was in the neighborhood and very highly rated. Service was good; pleasant and friendly. The food was pretty much standard.. I was not overly impressed, but I guess I was hoping for more, with such a high rating. I had a waffle combo with scrambled eggs and chicken apple sausage. The eggs and sausage had a weird flavor that distracted from the actual flavor of both.. my guess is that the odd taste came from the griddle. Maybe it's intentional, 'seasoning', but I found it unpleasant, almost like burnt, spent oil. The waffle was okay, but nothing special, I'm sad to say. I probably won't go out of my way to come back.. unless they promise to clean the griddle!

  • ErUta N.

I couldn't decide between the orange poppyseed pancakes (sound interesting) and the french toast (yay french toast). The waitress suggested I get half portions of both, which sounded excellent to me. My partner in dining was 40 minutes late, so the coffee outside was much appreciated - the eggs benedict he ordered were well received. So far this and Harbor Cafe are my favorite brunch spots in SC... it'll take some more visits to see which one edges into first. :)

Absolutely awesome little breakfast place! Not only was the food delicious, but the customer service is one of the very best I've ever had at any restaurant! The employees are very cheerful and friendly when getting food orders and often come by to see how everything was going. Definitely worth the couple of minutes waiting outside where by the way they set up some coffee so you can serve yourself while you wait. Great place overall next time I'm in town I will definitely drop by again!

I drove down from San Jose to have breakfast at the beach and to try out their eggs Benedict. I'm really glad I did! Service was great, the eggs were runny, the hollandaise sauce was sharp and the coffe was really good. All in all, it was a great way to start the day.

As soon as we walked in, me and my husband were greeted by friendly staff. Our food arrived super fast, loved the atmosphere..tiny place, full of happy patrons and staff alike. I ordered a greek scramble and tried half tofu and half eggs, and I loved the tofu. Had to try the cinnamon roll muffin, added some warm butter and it was a tasty treat. Homemade salsa was brought to the table, quick on the coffee pour, it was a small slice of a local hangout and the portions were really great!

After waiting for an hour...yes, an hour...we were seated. The waitstaff was very attentive and the food was good; yes, good, but I don't know if I'd wait an hour for it again. It was a fairly late on a Sunday morning and I guess I should've known better based on what some others had reported about the wait time, but I had optimistic hopes that the wait wouldn't be too long. So much for my optimism...oh well; we live and learn. The food WAS good, so that's a big positive. I had the sausage scramble that was listed on the specials board. My wife and one of my daughters ordered the omelette with turkey and avocado. The "home fries" were cooked perfectly and the cinnamon roll (which we learned was actually on the menu, but listed as their muffin) was excellent as well. Aside from the wait for a table, overall, we had a very enjoyable breakfast at Linda's. I definitely will recommend this place to my friends...but not if it appears to be a long wait!

What a great find!!! Cute place, great food, friendly servers and a parking lot :) The wait can be a bit long but it does turn over quickly. I got the special of the morning which was corn tortillas, black beans, eggs, sour cream and salsa. YUMMY! They brought me more of the home made salsa and I could have eaten it with a spoon. Delicious!! It's on my list of places that is worth a drive over the hill to enjoy!! Guy should eat here where the food actually has flavor....

Fresh Baked Cinnamon Rolls. Need I say more? Coffee is weak and not premium, which sucks but, (and inspite of) Verve Coffee roasters right around the corner....everything else here is superb which is why I couldn't dock any stars. Mmmmm

Never heard of this place until my housemate brought it up. One evening she asked if we are up for a hike in the SC mt. so I said sure~ why don't we go get brunch and then head for a nice walk. Weather was awesome, sunny day with easy breeze, perfect for brunch too! For a 11am brunch it was not a long wait.

  • Chantel D.

Small place, which is one of the reasons why the wait is so long. However, it's totally worth the wait. Breakfast was delish and the staff is super sweet. Such large portions that we (family of 6, 4 kids) took on the Boardwalk with full tummies and didn't even hint at being hungry well into the evening hours.

No other place can top the traditional American breakfast served at Linda's. They have homemade jam for your toast and this delicious salsa for your potatoes, but it's good on anything! I put it on my omelet, toast and my potatoes. I ordered the breakfast bird (turkey, avocado, cheese omelet) and it was sooo good! I thought the turkey was going to be sliced, but I was wrong! It was actual turkey like on thanksgiving :) Same with the ham my boyfriend ordered, not sliced! Definitely recommended and I will be back!

I was visiting Santa Cruz for the weekend avoiding responsibilities and the last morning I was there I was, well, hungover. All I cared about was getting some coffee and breakfast. So you get coffee while you wait, perfect. We were seated and helped right away. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes because I'm a 5 year old trapped in a 25 year old woman's body. The food came out magically fast and the best part was that they left the check with the food. Why is this the best? Because me personally, I like to get in and get out at any restaurant. I want to eat and leave, and they get people in and out. The food was so good I don't even think I chewed, I mostly inhaled. Long story short this is my dream breakfast joint and its far away from me and that is very depressing but by God I will be back here.

YUM. Great breakfast/brunch place. The menu itself is good, but the specials all sounded amazing! I ordered the huevos rancheros off the specials board after debating over the eggs benedict, tostada omelette, french toast, & the tofu curry. Yes, I had the drunk munchies & wanted them all! I'm not sure why they close at 1:00 on Sundays, that seems to be the time that most college kids are waking up. But it seems like as long as you arrive by 1:00 & add your name to the list, they'll serve you. Although they may run out of those yummy specials by then.

Such a nice little cafe in Santa Cruz! I can't give it more than 3 stars (more likely 3.4 stars) since, although it does have some good breakfast items...ehh I dunno. Maybe it is the best breakfast in Santa Cruz since I haven't really had breakfast in Santa Cruz much, or maybe it was all the hype from my girlfriend. Maybe the stars weren't aligned that morning (couldn't tell, couldn't see em) and I just happened to catch them on an off day? I ordered the Breakfast Bird omelette, which may have been the reason for 3ish stars instead of 5. Then again, Turkey is a very bland protein and Avocado shines when it's got something to compliment it (either spicy or savory). Ultimately I felt the omelette was ok but not great. I'm a sucker for home fries, and their's were pretty nice! Good seasoning and onions, yummy! Edit: I forgot the corn muffin! The corn muffin looked like it had SO MUCH PROMISE! Bits of corn and bell pepper floating about in baked cornmeal and other lovely ingredients! Smelled amazing! After my first bite, I was actually taken aback, literally cocked my head back and stared straight into the soul of that muffin. How could something so beautiful taste so...bland? So lifeless? I didn't taste the bell pepper, not even the corn, not even the ingredients of the sum of all its parts! The texture of it was there, sure, but then it stopped short, and soon I felt ashamed of my decision. But I was a trooper, I stuffed the rest of that lifeless baby in my mouth and said nothing of it afterwards. My table mates couldn't tell of the sorrow that I had buried, deep inside, nor did I want them to know. I carried on. Such is life. As if you couldn't tell, I ****ing love cornbread. Their salsa was a very nice touch! It's not particularly spicy, but it's got good flavor, a little pulpy (which I LOVE) and feels like it can be added to anything with good results! Service was pretty good! Friendly, attentive and slightly quirky! I guess the big draw of this place is the people that work here. They seem very personal Overall I felt like the food was basically average diner food dressed in a beach town setting, not nearly anywhere deserving the 4.5ish stars currently on the page or the 5 star reviews. I didn't feel compelled at all to come back unless I had some sort of emotional, sentimental investment in the place (clearly I don't). Maybe that's why my girlfriend talked it up so much, maybe the cafe itself was tied to some special memory or advice from someone she revered, either her family or a former undisclosed lover, like she was waiting for something to magically click once we had arrived. Apparently it didn't happen, because she wasn't anymore impressed than I after we left. Meh. I guess what really solidified 3ish stars for me was the parking lot. Please, don't get suckered in to parking in their lot, find spots on the street. Trust me, just don't.

I ordered a linguica omelette with green onions, mushrooms and cheese. Overall it was a good omelette, the balance between the linguica and veggies could have been better balanced, more mushrooms would have helped. I do like that they do a jack and white cheddar cheese blend versus just one. My omelette was originally a scramble special, so it was nice of her to offer making it into an omelette, as I had expressed an omelette sounded good. The wait was quite extensive (at least 45 minutes), in addition to the self sign in sheet it would have been helpful for someone to offer an estimated wait time. With that being said, they do offer a coffee bar so you can sip while you wait. Once we were seated our server immediately greeted us and was available to take our order if we were ready, food was out in about ten minutes, so that was a plus!

It's no-frills diner food--average taste, huge portions, good service. The turnover is quick. I wish I had noticed the specials board hanging on the wall sooner; I was thinking about changing my order to one of their delicious sounding pancakes, when not even 10 minutes after we ordered were we already delving into our food. They serve tofu scrambles, which I found to be a bit bland (typical). I had one of the veggie omelettes which came with a side of potatoes and toast--very filling and satisfying. They serve Numi tea, and the hot water was promptly topped off. The parking lot is unbelievably small. You need to back out of the stall and continue backing all the way out onto the street to leave the establishment, which can be tricky. Long waits also result in hungry diners waiting around, spilling over into the lot. Several times, we found a few people leaning against our car. (Am I the only one who thinks that's rude?!?) Avoid the hassles altogether and park on the residential street.

I'm not sure what all the hype is about with the cinnamon rolls because mine was pretty dry. It was a pretty big letdown because I love cinnamon rolls! Maybe the rolls had been sitting there too long because the place was pretty empty (about half full). (The cinnamon rolls are not on the menu - you have to ask for them.) But the side of sausages I got were pretty tasty. I also felt rushed by the waitress. Right when she handed me the menu, she asked me what I wanted. She did not seem very friendly. I have no idea why she was rushing me because the place was not busy - there was no line, and there was a sign that instructed people to seat themselves. It's an ok brunch spot.

One of the best breakfast joints in Santa Cruz and I don't say that lightly. I had to eat here at least 10 times before submitting a review. Here's the lowdown: Parking is in the itty-bitty lot to the left of Linda's or the secret lot behind it (the driveway is on the right side of Linda's). Or you can park on the street. If you get there early you can usually just pick a seat and sit down. If not, put your name on the list and have a seat outside on one of the benches. If you like coffee they have a self-serve setup outside so you can sip your coffee while you wait. If you have time and want the fancier stuff, walk down to Java Junction to get your fix and head back to Linda's. Always check the specials on the board, they are the best thing going. The menu stuff isn't bad either but I can't ever turn away the specials. Whatever you get, have salsa with it...their salsa is ridiculous. I haven't tried their cinnamon rolls but I get food envy when I see other people eating them so heck, try those, too. If you have kids there are lots of toys for them to play with so it's definitely kid-friendly. If you're like me and don't like your toast buttered (okay, who doesn't like it buttered, I'm just trying to be healthy), tell them in advance or else you'll get it that way. The service is awesome and the staff is really friendly. Just make sure you have cash, they don't take plastic. There's an ATM machine inside, though, just in case.

I've lived in the county for years, and 'done' bkfast just about everywhere. Came here the other day with a friend for the first time, so glad I did. This place is a gem!! Great food, great coffee, and amazing service. Everyone here is so personable and friendly. I love that they feature a different artists artwork on the walls throughout the year. The only downside is parking, which is to be expected in this area. I definitely will be back. ( unfortunately without my friend as she's moving to Ireland :/ )

While visiting SC, we were looking for a place to have breakfast. Looking at the reviews here on Yelp, we decided to come here. Trust me folks, the food here is great! It is a little mom and pops, hole in the wall kinda place. I love the side of salsa they serve with your meal (not really hot enough for me) but it sure beats out just having a tabasco or Chalula bottle as options. Also, please try their cinnamon rolls, they are really tasty.

Awesome place, friendly staff and tasty food. The home made baked goods are great. Only the wait can be darn long, we were there on a Saturday morning and had to wait 45 min - but you get coffee while you wait so it isn't that bad and the wait was well worth it

Thank God for AAA and its Travel Guides (by State) rating accommodation and eateries - it led us to Linda's Seabreeze; and what a way to start the day. Incredibly interesting, tasty and fresh options, not at all greasy; and the very nicest people making it all happen. Great staff enjoying life doing what they do in delivering the best they can to their guests; making sure no one is disappointed. The place was full, the service was quick; but not rushing us. We ate breakfast here each day in Santa Cruz - and will do likewise on our return.

This is the perfect beach town breakfast spot. The pancakes were delicious: fluffy, cooked just the right amount, and absolutely filling. The hotcake combo and a cup of coffee hit the spot. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

Service is everything to me and the service here was amazing! The food was awesome as well. They kindly accommodated my food preferences which isn't often allowed or welcomed in many establishments. Everybody was nice here, even the gentleman who bussed the tables! Love Linda's Seabreeze Cafe. I'll be back.

Loved the Heart's Ahoy. They had some great homemade salsa and gotta go with the cinnamon roll. Park on the side streets and take a short stroll as the parking lot is a bit chaotic. The service and food are incredible. A gem. Never miss it when I am in town.

I've been here twice for Sunday brunch, and I'm just not that impressed. The food is OK but not great. The menu isn't that exciting. They were out of the huevos rancheros, which are only a special, not a regular menu item. Turkey omelet and spinach Florentine omelet were meh - nice ingredients except for the oversized, dry chunks of turkey and spinach, respectively. Potatoes were burnt. Cinnamon rolls are very good. Coffee is good and refills are frequent. Service is friendly. After a longish wait outside in the cold, I was seated next to the door and continued to freeze. Atmosphere is casual, quaint and noisy. Finally, they don't take credit cards.

Most Excellent Steak Fries! The french fries appeared to be freshly cut, and were properly cooked to a deep golden brown! Just perfect! I never get to Santa Cruz but this was a recommendation from a friend. This is the sort of restaurant that I love -- charming and inexpensive. The staff are friendly, efficient and solicitous. I debated four or five stars, but I have to say that my TEX's Turkey Deluxe while clearly made with love from a wonderful homemade turkey sort of just didn't have the right combination of flavours. The turkey was fresh and juicy, but the dominant taste was alfalfa sprouts... can do better!

It was our first time eating from Linda's Seabreeze Cafe and we decided to do take out as I was super hungry and didn't want to get ready and complete the whole routine before stuffing my face. I was thoroughly impressed with this first time experience. We had the swordfish and eggs, chicken sausage and eggs and their pancake special. All were excellent!!!!!! The fish was very fresh, delicious and tender and swordfish is not my first choice for fish. It was for my husband but he kindly shared. Chicken sausage was yummy and their cinnamon roll that came with the meal was really good. All in all it was a great experience. Although we haven't eaten in the restaurant as of yet, I look forward to eating there again and was grateful for a happy tummy experience.

The food here is awesome! I enjoy supporting locally owned business, especially those that truly care about their product and service. I love their fresh baked muffins. The place is small, but worth it when you want good home-cooking. One day, I didn't want breakfast just wanted to go in and buy a muffin (as they were closing) and they gladly sold me one! Their wait staff is very attentive. Only reason didn't give it a 5 star is due to size of place and limited parking. However, now that I live nearby I can walk there!

Came early on a weekday and had no wait for a group of five. Service was super friendly from the minute we walked in the door, especially with the kids. Menu had a pretty good selection with quite a few additional specials. Food was great all around, how can you turn down a cinnamon roll with breakfast? Great breakfast experience.

After careful reviewing, Linda's was my choice for breakfast in Santa Cruz. I was on a budget, and wanted something with quality and decent prices. This place sure provided. I was feeling something light, and got their oatmeal, however it was so much more than oatmeal. It was definitely not microwaved boxed oats, but very much had a wholesome old fashioned stove top cooking taste, with bananas, walnuts, raisins, brown sugar, and soy milk to top it off. Extremely tasty. For something so simple I've never had something taste so good. My friend got the Denver Omelet with spuds and their homemade cinnamon roll, didn't get to try it but she sure as heck enjoyed it. Love the idea of providing coffee on the outside patio, since their obviously is going to be a wait. I love the variety of their chalkboard specials, and the service was outstanding. Small mom and pop restaurant, with a cozy local feel. Love it.

Omg this place blowwwsss!!!!!!! Im not sure how it has 4.5 stars.... Everything we order was sub par. We got breakfast bird, eggs Benedict with banana nut muffin, potato and fruit. The only thing that's actually edible is their home made salsa and the fruit. The muffin was dry and crispy on the edges(so obviously over baked). Eggs bene was meh... the hollandaize sauce was questionable. The turkey in breakfast bird was super dry and taste less, it crumbles apart upon fork, seem like its straight from frozen or packet or whatever. Very very disappointed.... Have not had a meal this bad in a long long time. Even my hotel breakfast was better then this.... Travelers yelper avoiddddd at all cost!!!!!!!!!!!! It looks cute, but nothing is good here. People say they're famous for their cinnamon bun but I didn't even smell a hint of cinnamon , or saw anyone eating it while i was there.

Cute little place just down the street from Betty's Burgers. They have coffee outside for those waiting for their table. Only had to wait about 15 minutes or so and it was totally worth it. I had the Veggie Omelet with potatoes and flour tortilla. Only thing I'd change is carrots in the omelet. There's just something about carrots in an omelet that doesn't taste or feel right to me but the home made salsa picked up the slack. Will definitely go back again and gonna have to try the cinnamon roll cause it smelled sooooooo good on the table next to us.

I'm so conflicted about writing this review. On one hand, I want everyone to check this place out & see why I love it so much. On the other hand, I don't want longer wait times. Lucky for you, my gracious side has won out. Just don't bring 10 of your friends, please :) (And the smiley face was my gracious side, but seriously, don't bring 10 people.) My personal faves are the special waffle (topped with whipped cream & fresh seasonal fruit like bananas, strawberries, blueberries, & kiwis) and the tuna melt. My hubby loves the corned beef hash and potatoes & eggs. And I can't talk food without mentioning that the cinnamon roll is a must! I'm salivating just thinking about it. Adding to all that deliciousness is an awesome staff that's super friendly. Our usual waitress wears 80s clothes & even rocked a Sailor Moon shirt once (as if you needed another reason to eat here). You've gotta check it out, just not with all your friends...seriously :)

SERVICE! Holy excellent service. Ive been going out to restaurants all weekend and this was my favorite because the waitresses were prompt, attentive and damn that food was great. Ambience: small, quaint, like your grandmothers house. Price: average. $8-13 about. . Good coffee, GREAT JAMS! OMG.

My girlfriend really wanted to try this place out. With the wait time 30+ minutes I objected! Long story short I decided it was best for "my health and well-being" to wait it out. It was right around thirty minutes, just as they stated. Limited seating while you wait and believe me there are going to be people waiting! However, they provide you with complimentary coffee while you wait! Awesome! The resturant itself is pretty small and cramped but they're obviously doing something right with the amount of people funneling in and out. The menu doesn't have a huge variety your basic breakfasts with a few zingers in there. I saw: a curry option, tofu, a few seafood, and some creative mexican variations. They also have daily specials on the board. I went with the bacon omelette. The massive three egg omelet was cooked perfectly however my homefries were a little undercooked. I highly recommend the homemade jams and cinnamon roll, scrumptious! My big gripe with this place is that they only accept cash! No credit cards! I feel like in this day and age, even with the charges, all businesses should accept plastic! Period! Especially in a city like Santa Cruz.

I'm seriously pressed to think of anything bad to say about the place. Yes, there is a wait..quite a long one, at times. So..get there early or be prepared to wait. Walk down the block and pick up a Verve coffee. Then enjoy a fast, fresh, generous portioned, and quality breakfast, prepared with some unique twists. Oh, and bring cash : ).

Big portions. I upgraded to the sea breeze potatoes for $1.80 and got the cinnamon roll the coffee was good $2.50 endless refills. The help was spot on and at your service. Low key and friendly. The wait for myself was approx 30 minutes, since the weekends are busy.

Needed to make a quick trip to UCSC to pick up something. My bf and I wanted to try the best rated place on yelp, and found this brunch spot. The sad part is that we had actually gone here in our undergrad years, and forgot until we got inside. For a Saturday morning, we waited 20 minutes. I ordered the Breakfast Bird which exceeded my expectations. The quality of the turkey was very good; the meat was juicy, tender and very flavorful. It exceeded my expectations since turkey can often be overcooked and dry. Also, they stuffed the Omelette with turkey! There was tons in it. I also liked the avocado and cheese inside...this made a giant omelette that was totally worth the $8.95. Not to mention, it also came with some potatoes on the side with your choice of toast. The service here was a little annoying. We sat down right away and knew what we wanted. The waitress said, "I can tell that you guys are ready to order. How about I get you some drinks first?" I don't know why she couldn't just take our order. It would only take a second, there were only 2 of us. I was also a little annoyed since other waiters would come by and say things like, "I'm serving this table first" or "I'm helping them first" and honestly if they didn't take the time to say all of those side notes, they could have finished helping the other people first and helped us quicker. But overall the food was good (for Santa Cruz may I add), and it was cheap.

Anytime someone tells me they are going down to Santa Cruz, I always recommend that they make time to stop at Linda's Seabreeze Cafe. The food is always incredible. I generally pick something from the specials menu, because it always has great dishes that I just can't miss out on! Their regular menu is terrific too though. And everyone has to try the cinnamon rolls. I used to take some to go and then my family would fight over them because they're just so tasty! The staff are friendly and efficient. Couldn't ask for anything more!

  • John G.

Another local favorite. The prices are great. The specials outstanding - if you get there early enough. Otherwise they run out pretty quickly. Expect to wait 45-60 minutes outside with free coffee. Then the service is great, lots of homemade stuff and locally sourced seafood breakfasts. It's everything you'd want in your favorite breakfast diner.

Why do the small hole in the wall restaurants always have the best food and the nicest people? I have been going to this place off and on for several years and have never had anything less than great food and great interaction with staff. trying to think of anything bad about the restaurant and I just can't seem to do so. I recommend that whatever you get, make sure you add an order of the chicken apple sausage to it. :-)

Came here for breakfast and after seeing all the reviews on yelp I figured the food was good. I was sadly disappointed. The server was nice but the food was mediocre at best. The broken yolk or the breakfast club of Menifee is better to anyone visiting So Cal wanting a good breakfast place.

Hello Delicious! So for 30 years of living in SC I have never been to Linda's Seabreeze Cafe until now! There is usually a line out the door and im not big on lines. So we set an alarm for 530 am and decided that we were gonna get there the moment they opened cause it must be good. This may have been one of the best food decision of my 30 year career of eating. We arrived and it smelt like coffee, good food, and had a loving homey vibe. We chose our selections and I sipped on my coffee impatiently waiting cause I knew this was gonna be good. First thing to come out was like Jesus' love itself. It was a fresh baked cinimon roll with butter and it was jaw droppingly tasty! Next our meals. I had an omlet with potatoes, so good. My Friend had an amazing corn and oat waffle with yogurt and fresh fruit on top ( strawberries, kiwi, and blueberry, to die for. This place is A+ in every sense! I love it and cant wait to go back even if I have to set a 530 am alarm on the weekend.

Came here on a Sunday for brunch and plenty of people were waiting to be seated. It was a 45 min wait, which we didn't mind at all. Parking around the street by the residence was easy. We ordered: The scrambler with muffin and their waffle special. I was sick this day, so my taste buds were off. This place deserves a 5 star rating for the service they provide and the attention to detail. Ill come back forsure when Im back in town again.

It takes a while to get a table but they have really good breakfast. I ordered the turkey avocado omelet I took bites from my friends plates and everything was really good. Their service is great, everyone there is really nice and attentive. One thing to note is place is cash only.

Went here for breakfast on a weekend, and it was nearly full, but we were easily seated. A number of families with kids of all sizes and shrillness levels were also eating, and this is a very family-friendly place. I had the corned beef hash, which was house made (not canned) and very tasty. Well above average but not spectacular, and I ate everything except the fork. I had the muffin, which was an "applesauce muffin" that day, this was tasty, and had a clear flavor of apple without being cloyingly sweet. My companion had the greek scramble with tofu, and hash browns. She finished about half of it, and just had a bite or two of the hash browns. Nothing special here, perhaps it would have been better with eggs. A good choice for weekend breakfast when you want traditional american diner without all that fru-fru beansprout and nouvelle chicanery.

Showed up early in the morning. The food looked and smelled good, but could never know if it was or not because the service was terrible. People were showing up after my family and I, but they were getting seated before us. After what seemed like an eternity of us blocking the entrance, we finally left and enjoyed a burger at Betty's instead.

Small cafe, but wonderful. Good service from the entire staff -- our coffee cups were never empty :) Hubby and I were there at 11 AM so we got to choose between breakfast and lunch. Both of our choices (pancakes and eggs and mine a tuna melt) were very tasty. Good value for the food. Loved the neighborhood feel.

Cute little restaurant. Very popular...there was a 30' wait, but it wasn't that bad. They have benches outside to sit, and offer coffee outside while waiting. I had the corned beef hash and eggs special with a cinnamon roll "muffin." Homemade delicious hash, reasonably priced. They don't accept credit cards...bring cash :). Will come here again when visiting SC.

I met some friends here for breakfast. It was my first trip to Seabreeze, I'd always wanted to try it because it always had a huge crowd out front and the reviews were great. My buddy and I both ordered the special, Eggs Benedict. I love a good eggs bene and was super excited to try it here. Unfortunately both of our orders were overcooked. To the point of the yolk being able to be pulled out of the egg in one whole piece. We were both pretty sad. Especially after waiting for 30 minutes and then paying $12, we expected the food to be on point. Maybe it was just an off day for the cook. I'll come back and try again. Plus, I want to try that bacon waffle they have.

I had high hopes based on the Yelp score, and was excited to have a good breakfast spot so close to my house. The place was full but not packed. I was seated quickly and felt optimistic. I ordered the turkey scramble special. The food came out after a short while and I was hardly impressed. It looked as though they spent the minimum possible time with my scramble: the eggs were on the moist/undercooked side, the onions that were in piles all over the dish were undercooked and the bell peppers were still crunchy. I was able to make a better scramble than this at seven years old. Also to be honest the cinnamon roll was nothing special, kinda bland and dry. The two stars are for the quick service only, the food was a joke. If you want excellent food go to Walnut St. Cafe, or good food and good ambiance go to Harbor Cafe.

On a road trip to Oregon and my wife and I stopped by this little breakfast shop after restless night sleep. In order to try to reclaim the rest of our day we decided to go out on a really nice breakfast and not only did we find Linda's to be the best place around but it was a very good price and great food with great service.

    (5)
  • Michael A.

Everyone hyped up the cinnamon roll and got my hopes up. It was pretty bland to be honest and butter instead of icing seemed weak. My gf and I shared a Special Waffle with whipped cream and fruit (very meh), French Toast with bananas (Texas toast is a nice touch, but the bananas oddly took something away from it) and a Breakfast Bird Omelet (jackpot! Tasted like a badass was in the kitchen the day after thanksgiving). I was in a dessert for breakfast mood and was let down by their offerings. Service is more than excellent, which helped bump the three stars I would have given this place to four stars. Overall, I would go back for the savory breakfast options, but will definitely go elsewhere when I feel like feeding the little fat girl inside of me (she likes pancakes, waffles, all carbs really as long as they are yummy). C.R.E.A.M. - cash rules everything around me (my generation had cooler acronyms than YOLO, Wu-Tang!). That is the only form of payment accepted here, although I didn't try to barter using goats.

If you are a UCSC Student DEF go here before you leave SC. Its a different feel than cafe brasil and its just more of a family feel and not as "trendy" Their food is awesome, I have not once got anything here that I was turned off by. There is a wait sometimes but if you go early enough you can sit right away and the people who work there is crazy nice!

Yummerz! I felt like I had done a lot of different brunch places in Santa Cruz so when I finally saw the reviews for Linda's I wanted to try because I found one I hadn't been to! This is definitely an old school mom & pops kind of place, and it is not near the beach ... but I suppose its close enough. A HUGE plus is that they are literally one block away (less than 5 minutes walk) from the Verve Coffee Roasters in this area, so while you wait out your potential 40 minute wait, you can go grab a deliciously amazing latte from Verve. The inside is cute, small, doesn't seat many people and would be terrible for groups. However, their plates are HUGE and the prices are excellent. I loved the flavor of their Huervos Rancheros because I got to customize my sunny side up egg on it. They serve a cute mickey mouse shaped pancake, and their eggs benedict is pretty good as well. Totally worth while!

Greek scramble, blueberry pancakes, hot chocolate and a cinnamon roll for days. My gf and I have never gotten anything else. No need. Great small local family breakfast joint but gets super busy on the weekends. BTW I wonder if anyone has actually ever bought any art from the walls of that place, they all have ridiculous price tags lol.

Found this restaurant on here and decided to give it a try. It was soooo delicious and so much food!!! My husband and I agreed that this will be a regular stop when passing through Santa Cruz. Go here if: 1. You're lucky enough to hang out in Seabright - one of the great neighborhoods of N.Cali. 2. You've got time to kill, cuz you're gonna wait awhile for a table on weekends! 3. You like great food. Don't forget to look at the specials board before ordering! I almost missed out on ordering the WILD, line-caught salmon & eggs. My belly thanked me.

I was looking for a great breakfast or lunch place near the water. I discovered Linda's, and I am glad I did! Food: the menu was very extensive with a large breakfast and lunch menu. The best part is the option (which they promote) to mix and match. You can add things to your eggs, leave them out, or even mix two completely different menu items together. We had: Greek Scramble - this was at the suggestion of other Yelpers. We had 1/2 tofu and 1/2 eggs. Scrambled in were spinach, tomatoes, black olives, and feta cheese ($7.95). We had a choice of sides and selected a bowl of fruit. I didn't love the tofu, but my wife enjoyed it very much. Despite me not loving it, I think it was prepared well and does not warrant removal of an entire star. The fruit was as fresh as possible. Burger topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and cheese ($7.75). It was cooked med-well. I requested the addition of avocado, which they were happy to include ($1 extra). The sandwich included lettuce, tomato and purple onions plus some mayo which we got on the side. The burger was organic, farm-raised. And most importantly, it was very tasty. I chose fries as my side which was a large portion of potato wedges of perfect crispiness. We were also a given a homemade cinnamon bun that we saved to eat on the boardwalk. Probably would have been even better if it was warm. They also placed some ortega salsa on the table for us. It went great with the fries and the Greek scramble. Not spicy at all. Ambiance: when we entered, the place was packed! There is a clipboard to add your name, but we were able to grab the last table available. There was coffee in the entryway for those who have to wait (which is added to your bill). There were probably about 20 tables of various sizes. There is also a chalkboard hanging on the wall with additional menu selections. Staff: incredibly friendly and helpful. This alone made us want to return. Parking: the lot was small, but we managed to find a spot. We had to back out to exit. The food was great! The service and friendliness of the staff was even better - which for me determines why this place deserves a full, rarely given, 5 stars. Definitely visit!

we love this place. Great breakfast, lots of food. The muffins are wonderful. I like the apple chicken sausage -- but three are too many! One star off for coffee that is just totally lacking. Love the people who work here. Very welcoming.

Best little "Hole in the Wall" in town. You may have to wait for seating on the weekends, but it's well worth the wait. Great breakfast and wonderful potatoes :) Give this place a try you won't be disappointed!!

The quality of this breakfast place is incomparable. We must go very early to beat the crowds. We've never had better service anywhere in Santa Cruz! Every time we go there we have the Popeye omelette and a fresh muffin. Coffee cups never get below the half way mark.

Cozy atmosphere, good menu selection, tasty food, worth the 30 minute wait. Remember to bring cash or a check. No credit cards accepted. Probably why they can keep their prices low.

I went to Santa Cruz to visit some friends recently. Because I'm from New York, I woke up three hours before everybody else and went looking for a nice place to sit down, read my book, and have some breakfast. I stumbled upon Linda's because it was literally right next to my friend's house, and let me tell you, I am THRILLED that I found it. Everything there is just so amazing. The ingredients are treated with the respect that I've come to expect from California restaurants, but this was still something special. Make sure you get the cinnamon bun or try their daily special muffins. Seriously out of this world.

Linda will you marry me? Ok... So I'm pretty sure there is no Linda, but, coffee while you wait and incredibly nice people that treat you well and good food to boot. I'm in love!

Got served half cooked french toast (this stuff is coated in egg, remember). Waitress made it right by taking it off bill, only. Also, she slammed water around, creating a foot long splash that still hasn't been cleaned up after we've paid bill. Oh yeah, breakfast for two with one item comped? $13. I won't be back. ,

This place is so awesome, I went there two days in a row with my family for breakfast while visiting Santa Cruz. Service is really great and the food is delicious. Alot of vegetarian and vegan options too! Everything seemed to be home made.

Nice little place. Be prepared to wait for a table. VERY nice, friendly, and fast service. That's the best part of this place. Warm and inviting atmosphere, although a bit cramped inside. Based on Yelp reviews, we've come a couple of times and, unfortunately, didn't find the food to be anything special or inventive, or the prices to be particularly good. Portion sizes are large, however, and they are very generous with their potatoes.

Wow, Yelp leads the way, once again, to an amazing find! Fantastic meal and wonderfully friendly staff made this a great start to our morning. The fruits and veggies were fresh and delicious. I also really enjoyed how they had coffee out for everyone to enjoy while waiting for our tables. Delish!

Just finished their Greek Scramble and Calamari Steak and Eggs with huge servings of potatoes and cinnamon rolls (in lieu of toast! What a deal!!). FANTASTIC! THE BEST!! The calamari was tender with hint of Italian seasoning. Perfect marriage of spinach, feta, and black olives in the scramble. We'll be back over and over! Service was so nice and helpful. Request for butter was met with a smile and fast accommodation. Cinnamon rolls are fresh baked in muffin tins with lots of cinnamon throughout. SO yummy! Best breakfast in Santa Cruz!

Linda's has gone downhill the last 3 times we've been there. We won't be going back anytime soon. "White" clam chowder was not a New England clam chowder, don't know what they were trying for. Not milky, not buttery, not clamy. Over salted, vegetabley muck. Potatoes were burnt. Another disappointing meal. It used to be so good. :-(

We live in Santa Clara and since our son who lives in Santa Cruz introduced us to the Seabreeze Cafe a few years back, we try our very best to have breakfast there every Monday morning with him and our grand-daughter who resides in Aptos. Clair, Tex and their staff always makes us feel right at home. The breakfast's are always awesome. The clientele who frequent this jewel are just as friendly.

How consistent can it get? Always, great, the servers are sweet and kind and really want you to enjoy your meal. It is so wonderful, is that the owner is the central key to all of this. Since the center of the business supports having enough service and high quality ingredients served, we the customers are always delighted and nourished both physically and spiritually!!! Yeah for Seabreeze Cafe. Plus we love Adrian. May your light shine on other restauranteurs who are not as aware, who could learn a little bit or a lot, by coming for a meal and seeing how happy you make your clients. Thank you so much for being here in our town.

This is everything a nice little diner should be. We ordered two bowls of oatmeal and coffee for breakfast. We were served quickly and everything was delicious! The place is very cute and the servers seem to know a lot of the customers. We were treated nicely even though I'm sure it was obvious that we were from out of town. Thanks for the great breakfast!

Excellent local spot for breakfast... I came on a Wednesday morning, and still had to wait to be seated. That's saying something. I can see why this is, though, as the food and service here are phenomenal. I had the tostada omelette, which is their version of the spanish variety. It came with hash browns and toast, and was absolutely divine... The dining room here is smallish, and the restrooms are located outside. It's worth looking past these things, though. Highly recommended...

Small local spot. We seem to go here every time we visit Santa Cruz. Good coffee, which is extremely important to my boyfriend. Eggs are cooked well, thank goodness, so many breakfast spots serve eggs cooked to the texture of cardboard. I had waffles with eggs and bacon and a chai latte with soy milk on a recent visit -- all very good. Service is usually super friendly. It gets awfully crowded on weekends, be prepared to wait. Weekdays aren't so bad.

Eight of us came here for Sunday breakfast/lunch after a 199 mile relay race that ended near Santa Cruz. We arrived around 12:30p.m. and waited for about half hour. You put your name on a clipboard. Fortunately we called ahead, and our name were added over the phone. Portions are very generous, and the food comes within minutes after your order is taken. Homemade cinnamon roll is the best. On the patio, they've got hot coffee is a pump thermos, and you can drink as much coffee as you like while you're waiting for a table. Now isn't that service?

Absolutely wonderful service! Turkey sandwiches were filled with fresh veggies, generous slices of real roasted turkey. Salad served with sandwiches was sooooo good, especially with the house vinaigrette. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place is delightful!! I ordered the Mendocino Scramble off their specials menu, and it was quite possibly the most delicious breakfast I've ever had. Basal, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, and feta cheese... bursting with flavor!! AND, they served us our food within 5 minutes of ordering. Looking forward to returning!

Very solid breakfast. I had the chipotle egg scramble; friend had eggs. Cinnabon roll/muffin was solid, but didn't blow us away. Solid service as well. I'd go back, but it didn't blow my mind as apparently it has many others'.

I wonder why I have not reviewed this place yet. It's awesome. Excellent food and always friendly staff. The muffins are fresh every day and the menu is very interesting. It is a small restaurant though. Don't go if you are in a hurry for there may be a wait. One of the top breakfast spots in the county.

  • Heidy S.

Solid good brunch place. Great portions. Tasty dishes. Don't let the long lines hinder you. They have a bench and coffee for you, and the tables clear pretty quickly so the turnover isn't bad at all. Bring a book to read too if you like. :)

  • Max P.

Cash or check only! Over all pretty good food, long line during the weekends but they have a self-serve coffee station for while you are waiting. The service was great and the employees seemed very friendly. Portions were large though my girlfriend and I felt that there were too many potatoes filling us up in her scramble and in my Huevos Rancheros. We'll have to keep trying more items to know just how good this place is.

I visited Santa Cruz last weekend and had no idea where to grab a quick lunch. Luckily, Yelp helped us discover Linda's Seabreeze Cafe. This is a cute little cafe. Perfect place to go with family/friends or even a brunch date. :) There were so many options in the menu and I had trouble deciding what to get. I saw some interesting things, like a tofu curry scramble. However, I was feeling THAT adventurous. I ended up going for the STUFT CHEESE! It's a grilled cheese on sourdough bread and it's stuffed with sliced tomato and avocado. With it, you get a choice of soup, salad, or fries. I went with the green salad. The grilled cheese was excellent. The bread was grilled to a perfect gold brown and the cheese inside was ooey gooey. The entire thing was just $7 (+$1 if you want turkey in your Stuft Cheese). A very yummy, inexpensive meal! If I ever venture out to Santa Cruz in the future, I'll be sure to stop by here again. For now, I'll have to resort to making my own less-yummy Stuft Cheese at home. :(

  • Nish N.

My oh my, what hasn't been said already. I don't think I even like eggs that much but their habanero scramble was something to believe in. It's a heaping serving; I felt like a loser for eating only about a third, but that could partially be blamed on account of eating one of their infamous cinnamon rolls beforehand. We went this past Saturday, and were able to get a table without a wait, and the whole staff is very kid-friendly and aware, which now that I think about it, a lot of Santa Cruz is.

We keep coming to Santa Cruz and we keep having breakfast at Seabreeze!! Yummy food served very fast...given how busy it is...i took note! Have fun with specials! Scrambles are to die for! Our 6 and 8 year olds like the french toast(texas)! That is amazing by itself! LOL

Cheater, Anthony!! WTF? ;-) I've never heard of review place holders... until now, I guess! Linda's ALWAYS has a line in the am. ALWAYS. They serve up large omelettes and they give you fresh baked muffins with the meal... it's very tasty, but it doesn't matter if you get here at 6:30 am, you're going to be waiting in line.... I could never finish a meal here. It's just too much food. Guys like that, I suppose, for me, i get a bit daunted when I see a huge pile of impossible to finish food in front of me. That and the wait are why they don't get that last star.... But it's definitely GOOD EATS!!

one of my favorite breakfast places in santa cruz, linda's is worth the wait on the weekends (or you could wise up and go during the week -- but you still might have a wait). the coffee is delicious and it is one of the only places in town with a decent cinnamon roll, even if it is made in a muffin pan. the potatoes are great, and cooked in butter but you can order them vegan and the accommodating chefs will use olive oil instead. the portions are generous and everything on the menu is a hit. i always forget they don't take credit cards, which is the only drawback to eating here.

  • SantaCruzRestaurantReview A.

Top notch! Linda's is the definition of a Santa Cruz breakfast joint. This place is so consistent at producing very good meals. Truth be told, I can't even eat there anymore because I ate there so much. I did the Linda's overload thing. But when I do start up again, it will be on a Friday and I will be getting the potato pancakes, and I will love every bite of that gooey apple sour cream extravaganza.

  • Aaron H.

Hands down the best breakfast in SC. Hot fresh cinnamon roles, real turkey omelets (like the turkey from a Thanksgiving dinner). The fruit is fresh, the coffee is strong and hot. Only downside is there is usually a long wait.

  • Andy Y.

Breakfast was outstanding. Great flavors and fresh ingredients. Would highly recommend the homemade corn beef hash and eggs and the chipotle omelette when they're available. Cinanmmon roll was exceptional. The only reason I don't give a 5-star rating was the pancakes. They were still well above average, but not amazing (and I'm extra finicky when it comes to pancakes).

  • Noah K.

Ate there once during a two night vacation in Santa Cruz. Mmmmm. Decently long wait but plenty of free coffee in the sunny parking lot. SUPER nice staff kept bringing more coffee and mugs, too. We had the Tostada Omelet: Green chiles, olives, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, salsa and tortillas on the side, and; The Breakfast Bird: Omelet with fresh roasted turkey, cheese, and avocado. The tostada was yummy, the bird was good if as weird as it sounds. It was kind of like two meals: An avocado & cheeese omelet and a TON of tasty roast turkey. Good ingredients but kind of odd together. Side potatoes were really good. And the Cinnamon Roll Muffin? Mmm. Not so much a muffin as a cinnamon roll shaped like a muffin, but whatever: total breakfast dessert heaven. Buttery and sugary and cinnamon-y. Good coffee for a diner, too. Highly recommended when you're in town. And can't say enough about how great the folks who work there are.

Update 11/7/2006: This place is excellent. Although I wouldn't recommend the walnut muffin I had, I loved my egg with spinach and sausage special. My girlfriend had a lovely omelet. Also, there was a line when we came but went to check out the little kids at the Halloween parade going down Soquel. When we came back, fashionably late, we were served immediately. Next time I'll try the turkey dish (breakfast bird). Update: 8/26/2007 This place is certainly one of the memorable gastronomic experiences in Santa Cruz.

My favorite breakfast place in the world. Unfailingly friendly staff who will customize my order with a smile every time, home made chai and cinnamon rolls, great specials. Only drawback is they only accept cash and due to small size can have long waits, but worth it and coffee is on tap outside.

  • Meadow G.

Linda's is a Seabright breakfast staple; I first ate there seven years ago and haven't been able to stay away since. The food is consistently tasty (try the Greek Scramble and the Tostada Omelette) and the specials board offers a changing list of additional options (like the ever-adored Special Waffle topped with fruit & yogurt or the Huevos Rancheros). As a previous reviewer noted, the plates are large, but if you sub fruit for the homefries (at no extra charge) finishing is less of a challenge. The staff is friendly and attentive. Tex, the owner, is always manning the door to greet me by name with a smile. There is always a wait on the weekend (usually less than 20 minutes), but that gives me time to breathe in the fresh air, people-watch and figure out what I want for breakfast. See you there!

  • adam l.

If there is a long line of locals at a restaurant, there's usually a reason for that, as is the case with Linda's. They have big portions, great tofu scramble, above average pancakes and a nice atmosphere. Totally worth the wait. I wish we had a place like this down here.

  • A. M.

GREAT DEAL FOR YOUR MONEY! Excellent service. Extremely friendly staff. Like a neighborhood establishment. EXCELLENT POTATOES! Had the blueberry pancakes (very good), the regular waffle (not so great, also American not Belgian), bacon (good), and scrambled eggs. VERY DECENTLY PRICED. Great service, decent meal, great price.

I have been eating here for years. Not just the best breakfast place in Santa Cruz, but the best breakfast place period. Pretty good lunches. There is usually a long line on the weekends for good reason. Very good service and very friendly staff.

When I lived in Santa Cruz, I felt like Linda's was the closest to the back home diner experience that I could get. I lived just up the street and would amble down, often times still in pajamas, to feast upon any number of breakfast delights. Their homemade muffins are awesome, and they roast a turkey daily for the various dishes and it makes a huge difference. Prices are totally reasonable and there is something for you if you want to spend four dollars or if you want to spend fifteen, something I really appreciate. They're only open till two and there are CRAZY lines on the weekends it's well worth it to get a little slice of diner-eseque experience.

    (5)
  • Cody G.

good, gooooooooooooood breakfast. parking is a pain, but it's worth the wait. Prices are very fair, too. Generous portions of quality food for not much money. There's not too much more you can ask for!

  • Boomer D.

C'mon, you don't _always_ wait in line to get in. Not if you get there before 8 or so on weekdays. Weekends, well... we got there at 7:05 today, five minutes after opening and it was already 1/3 full. By 7:15, there was a wait list. It is, in my opinion, the highest-quality breakfast place in town. It's got the tastiest and freshest food, the best service, and is the most consistent. Their lunch is less interesting than, say, at Zachary's, and there aren't any desserts to speak of, but the Seabreeze really exists for breakfast. The tostada omellete is my personal favorite, and I really like the Breakfast Bird as well. Top specials include fabulous potato pancakes, and the real ones are great, too. They offer fresh-baked muffins and cinammon rolls daily, and they come with breakfast at no extra charge (you can get regular toast, if you prefer). They're not perfect. Stay away from any egg dish which is both vaguely Mexican and includes a lot of sauce. It's always more gloppy than interesting (except for the Tostada Omelette, which has little or no sauce). Two things to know: You can have fruit or brown rice instead of potatoes with breakfast at no extra charge. They'll also sub a pancake for the toast, but charge you an extra buck. THEY DON'T TAKE PLASTIC! Be advised. Local checks are okay, though. Prices aren't cheap but you get better value for your money here than at Zach's, say,a or the Silver Spur.

recommended to us by a longtime local, we stopped here as part of a recent whirlwind bay area trip. wow. about as good a breakfast place as you'll find anywhere. great santa cruz ambiance, tasty healthy fresh food, good coffee. wish we'd stayed in town longer so we could have eaten here again

Thought I would give it a try since it was rated #1. Small menu . Small restaurant with only 14 tables which would explain the line/wait that others have mentioned in their reviews. There was no wait or line when I was there at 9:45am. Moving on, I had to pay an extra $.75 for the Good Syrup, which tasted like regular syrup, and should have been complimentary. I had the bacon waffles. The bacon was soggy and limp. It had no flavor and I really couldn't taste it. I ordered a cinnamon muffin and got a horrible marbled icky thing with walnuts. I didn't eat it. I mentioned to the waiter that I didn't care for it, especially with the walnuts and he just said "ah". The food was rather aw full. Although, the waiter was a real cutie so he got a big tip..too bad I had to pay for the food which was very expensive ($20.). NOTE: There was no line as I was told there would be. The parking lot is a dead end, you have to back out into on coming traffic/cross walk/busy street. Worse parking lot I have ever seen.7/30/2007 okay i went there again to double check myself. I had eggs and bacon with wheat toast. My Friend had spinach and cheese omelet with sour dough toast. I said nothing to him of my past experience. Guess what he said?..."This food has no flavor." Sour dough toast was that cheep stuff that is actually white bread shaped like sour dough toast, the cheese was ??? white. My bacon looked so good but had no flavor. We asked the waitress why it tasted so blah she had no reply. We suggested that maybe they use no seasonings and she said "yeah". Strange Phenomenon. Why the place had customers???? Maybe they had Friends there?Maybe they don't know better? We don't know, probably will never know.

This breakfast and lunch cafe is the best of Santa Cruz. There is something for everyone. We've been coming here since they opened. There are vegetarian specials and breakfast for steak eaters. The corn cilantro pancakes, corn beef hash, tofu or egg scrambles and much more is made on the premises. No canned corned beef here, they roast it themselves. And they allow/encourage substitutions. For example, I never have the fantastic fried potatoes or muffins, instead have fresh fruit. (Actually, I have a bite of each from my husband's plate.) As for lunch, my favorite is the "stuffed cheese" made with slice French bread, cheese, tomatoes and avocado. You can add turkey upon request. Again, choices, fries, salad or soup. Also, they served the best Swiss cheese, mushroom burger I've ever had! Parking is not a big deal. They have parking on the side and in the back. The street parking is never a problem unless you consider a half block too far to walk. Waiting; we all know the best things come to those that wait! Since you get up earl

  • Allie M.

i think i will always have a special little place in my heart for this cafe. it has such a homey, quaint feeling and everyone who works there is so nice. the food is yummy. i only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because i'm scared i'm becoming too generous with my ratings. but really it's a 5 for me. some people might get annoyed at the wait.

I'm an out-of-towner from chiCAgo so my review will not be so objective. AND I'm going to start this with a kitschy, "OMG, how cute is Santa Cruz?!" Now that aside, I must say I really do like Linda's Seabreeze cafe! The space is big enough for a small crowd and even on a strange Thursday afternoon, it was filled with people devouring the meals. Although after mastering the awkward parking lot, I can see how this place would not be a first choice for a weekend brunch, with limited space and parking. The coffee wasn't that great (I prefer mine super bold), but the food was! My sister and I (tired from traveling) shared a hearty portion of the seabreeze spuds and the tostada omelette. Both were really great, and I loved having fresh avocados with my omelette! One thing that wasn't too great: CASH ONLY. There's an ATM in the back corner that charges $1.75.

  • Emily T.

My boyfriend and I got there early (about 8:30am) on a Sunday and there was no wait for a table. The food was great - he had the Huevos Yucatan (a special on the board) and I had two eggs. We both got the cinnamon roll on the side which I must say was delicious! And the service was super-friendly, prompt and smiling!

  • T T.

I LOVE LINDA'S!!! The place is small, intimate, and always packed!! But the food is so delicious!!! Mmmmm! EVERYTHING on the menu is outstanding and more than you can eat. (Especially the turkey, avo omlette..mmmm). Another plus is that they serve coffee, juice, or tea while you wait on the patio! Sometimes the wait can be long, but it doesn't feel that way. It's not like standing in line. You just sit & chill on the porch, talk to some people, read a paper, and have some tea until your name is called.

Simply the friendliest and best breakfast in town. When I moved to Santa Cruz 11 years ago, Linda's was the very first restaurant I tried. Of course since then I've tried many other local spots, all with their own charm, but nothing compares to Linda's. By far the freshest ingredients, most creative entrees, best flavors, and friendliest service. Linda's is always the place I compare others to, even when I go back to L.A....and nothing comes close.

Found this little place on Yelp and decided to try it out. It's small, but it has pretty good food and very good service. Tried the Tofu Curry, and for a breakfast place, it's not bad. The curry is very American-ized, watery, and slightly lacking in flavor, but it's not bad. Accompanying home style potatoes are delicious! The parking lot is very small, so street parking is the way to go.

Wonderful little cafe. Very reasonably priced and huge portions. The almond waffle is delicious. They treat veggies very nicely - they were still bright and slightly crisp in the Seabreeze Spuds. Very nice to know such a quaint little cafe can put together such a fantastic meal, and so quickly! Lovely customer service as well! Love it!

This place would get five stars, but they only accept cash. One of the best breakfasts you will find, and if you are given the chance to try the cinnamon roll, do it.

I agree with most of the 4 and 5 star reviews on here. Basically, the food is not worth how crazy it is to get in on a Sunday, but they do let you get coffee outside which is a plus. It's best to go on a week day when it's calmer and you can take your time with the massive amounts of food and friendly service. I usually get the tostada with tortillas which I'd recommend. But anything with their potatoes is sure to satisfy. Honestly, the home-y food, bottomless coffee, and the friendly service = the best hangover cure around.

One of the best of breakfast restaurants in Santa cruz.. service and food was great! I would definitely come back again! =)

This and the Silver Spur are hands down, the best breakfast, lunch places in the county. The food is fresh and so much more than tasty. At Linda's, the Greek scramble is great with the best cinnamon roll anywhere and incredibly good fresh fruit ( even in the middle of winter) which doesn't cost extra. Delicious salsa is in a jar on the table, as much as you want, no extra charge. The service is amazingly fast and always, always, always super friendly. The price is way more than reasonable. You'll probably have to wait outside with a good cup of coffee, but even that is always friendly since everyone knows how good it will be.

Great selection of breakfast and lunch items, but not too many to feel overwhelmed. Specials board always has interesting items and the servers are helpful. Yummy pesto scramble, with either eggs or tofu...or BOTH! I'd rate five stars but this place accepts only cash.

Great food! Friendly service. Our family had one of the breakfast specials, pancakes, eggs, bacon. All of it was excellent. The salsa was very good. It was our first time here. We used the Yelp app to find a breakfast place and it was definitely worth it. Get there early if possible. Not a very big seating area so there may be a wait.

YUMM....Huevos Rancheros... After a crazy night of madness celebrating Jackson N's birthday we got up before we had to check out of our house to enjoy a nice Sunday brunch at Linda's. After reading the great reviews on the restaurant and since it was down the street from the house we were renting we walked right over. Be sure to put your name on the list right by the front door when you get there because the wait can be quite long. They must be aware of that because there are cups and coffee available to those waiting outside. However, after a long wait we were thrilled when they called our name to finally be able to go in and enjoy the warmness of the restaurant along with getting some food. The menu is pretty basic as most have previously mentioned but the specials board is really where it counts and most importantly where the huevos rancheros was listed. After a night of drinking all i wanted was to eat some yummy greasy goodness loaded with salsa and chalula. When my food came out man was it a sight for sore eyes. Corn tortillas on the bottom loaded with some refried beans and scrambled egg whites served with breakfast spuds and some home made salsa. Absolutely delicious! Everyone in our group got something different but everyone enjoyed their food. Other orders included: - Blueberry pancakes- light and airy and serves with some humongous blueberries - Waffle with strawberry, bananas and kiwi served with some yogurt - Omelette with spinach, bacon and some other ingredients inside served with the breakfast spuds - Seabreeze spuds loaded with sour cream, cheese and I can't remember what else. Lastly, the hot chocolate ordered by one of my friends looks fantastic. Topped with whipped cream it looked like the perfect way to end the meal. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back. FYI this place is CASH ONLY so bring some $$

The place is great! If you want a more traditional homestyle breakfast Linda's is the place to go. My housemate and I went there on a Sunday morning looking for a new place to eat in Santa Cruz and we absolutely loved it. The wait time was short and service was wonderful. The workers there were friendly and I felt just at home. I would recommend getting pancakes and the cinnamon roll! Don't miss you and check out the place!

  • Walter J.

As usual this place rocks! There is always a line on Sunday but they have coffee outside and it's worth the wait. The staff is super friendly, which is really good considering how busy the place can get. The prices are also fair. I large glass of fresh grapefruit juice is $2.75. This really is one of the best breakfast joints in the county. For sure there are none better! It's always a tough decision whether to get the eggs Benedict or their special waffles. Eat here

This place is tasty! I've been coming here for years and every item on their menu, from the bacon waffle to the soup, is delicious. I highly recommend their burgers (some of the best in Santa Cruz) and their eggs benedict is similarly stunning. You can't go wrong with one of their standards either. The owners of the place are super friendly and so are the regulars. Definitely my favorite breakfast spot in Santa Cruz. Tip: They have parking lots flanking both sides of the restaurant, although the larger one is a little hidden!

I couldn't wait to review this place! It's a family owned and run business and you can tell they really care. They are extremely nice, the food is excellent, the specials are original, they go way above and beyond with service, quality, variety and price! If only there were more places like this in Santa cruz! With most of there breakfast plates you get a homemade Cinnamon roll or muffin! They also will let you get fruit or potatoes or half and half of both. The options are limitless there! They have amazing Huevos Rancheros and scrambles, I like the Mendocino Scramble that they serve on Saturdays. I'm a big big fan of Linda's! Thank you for being so great!!!!

Yummy breakfast and lunch place. There's a wait to get in most times but worth the wait! Make sure to try the homemade jams they are incredible!!!! The wait staff is so attentive your coffee is never empty.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Santa Cruz for two days and ended up dining at Linda's Seabreeze Café. This place was wonderful choice for breakfast. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately by the staff. It was a very casual and friendly environment filled with locals. The menu had a great selection but I ended up choosing Tofu Curry with a cinnamon roll. The Tofu Curry was definitely good but all I can really remember was the cinnamon roll. It wasn't overly sweet or dry. It was absolutely perfect. I liked it so much that I ended up ordering a roll to go. I would definitely recommend the café to anyone who visits Santa Cruz. Of all the places, my boyfriend ate at during those two days, we liked Linda's Seabreeze Café the best.

This place serves a generous portion of these 5 items, each worth a star! After a bad hotel stay and 400 miles of riding you motorcycle from LA, 6 of us hit this joint to get the ride home off to the right start. We picked the right place. 1) Great food! Everything was fresh and yummy. I had their Corn and Oat waffles with Fruit and Yogurt. So good! Note, if there is jam on your table, USE IT! 2) The price is right. It's not a bargain, but you can tell that quality is what you are paying for. My meal was $10. A party of 6 was stuffed at $75 and it included drinks. 3) What a friendly staff. OMG. Can people pleasers gather in one place more often? Everything was no problem. And, they gave you more of it with a smile. 4) Coffee in the front ready for you when you get there. There can be a long wait, but there is coffee and mugs outside ready for you when you get there. Just bring it in and pay for it with you meal. 5) Parking lot is kinda small, but it's free and there is some available on the street. We fit all 5 bikes in one spot though, hehe.

First word of advice is : Go to this great little place though the week and leave the weekend to those who want to get trampled. I have always been for breakfast but the lunch menu looks tasty as well. Today I had the blueberry pancakes with a side of crispy bacon. It was the right choice. The cakes were light and fluffy and loaded with blueberries. The bacon was cooked to perfection, crispy. My breakfast mate enjoyed the potato scramble. It was loaded with onions, peppers and mushrooms. All this greatness was topped with sour cream and fresh homemade salsa. The service was fast and friendly. I am excited to check out the lunch menu sometime soon. GO HERE.....

A really good breakast. with great service I got the Greek scramble- amazing. I've been on a crazy feta cheese kick lately, so it was perfect. I actually thought the potatoes were a little bland- surprising because it is usually my favorite, and I kind of wish my toast had some butter or something equally unhealthy. My husband ordered the poppy seed lemon pancakes and he loved them. If I were in the area, I'd definitely stop in again, but be prepared for a long wait. Oh! A plus to the wide vegatarian selection.

was looking for a decently priced place we could take 3 adults and 2 kids to for breakfast/lunch. Cozy seating, friendly service and noisy enough that nobody paid any attention to our 3 year old. :) I had the Florentine omelette which comes with fresh spinach, bacon, sour cream, cheese and I added avocado. It was amazing. Comes with toast (or a muffin) and potatoes (or fruit or brown rice). Price is $9.75 before I added my avocado, but the portions are generous. I would definitely come back! The only downside is that they don't accept credit cards, so make sure you have cash on hand.

What can I say that hasn't been said? Hmmm.... while I ate my cinnamon roll I sang, "Yummy, yummy, yummy I got love in my tummy!" When I arrived with my kids, I had expected to wait a while for a table, we lucked out and were next in line for a table. Their coffee was just the perfect distraction, we sat on the benches and read a menu, by the time we all knew what we wanted a table had opened up. Our order was great! My daughters ate lunch, Turkey Sandwiches and a Cheese Burger with salads. My sons and I ordered Bacon and Cheese Omelets. The salads were the first to come out. The girls were so happy with their salads, they particularly loved the homemade crutons. The hamburger my daughter said tasted homemade. My other daughter found that the turkey sandwich was so good she wouldn't share a bite with her sis! At first when our omelets arrived my two sons thought they looked small (I told them to just wait and see how they felt after they ate). We all dug in and our table got really quiet. Which means the food is really good. By the time our plates were licked clean my son recanted his first statement and rubbed his tummy and smiled as we walked back to our car. Yes just like my fellow yelpers reviewed the salsa was tasty and the cinnamon rolls.... OOOOHHHH EMMMM GGEEE AHmazing! In fact we ordered a few more rolls for the road. My coffee cup was never empty and the service there wonderful. By the time we were done, the side patio was filled with people drinking coffee and waiting for their turn to devour the yummy goodness. I think anyone who ever ate one of those cinnamon rolls would agree "Good things come to those who wait."

Impressive! This little out-of-the-way breakfast joint in Santa Cruz has great food and a very friendly staff. I ordered "off the menu" and they delivered a breakfast that was more than I expected. In spite of its location off the beaten path, this little place was packed on a rainy Friday morning in January. Apparently the locals know a good thing when they see it. My highest recommendation!

  • Dan M.

My buddy Wilhelm to me to this place which was very good, tons of food and very filling. My wife had a Castroville omelette, which is artichoke, tomatoes and chesse and loved it. I had a special that consisted of sausage, eggs and potatoes which was great. The kids had the Mickey Mouse pancakes and gobbled them right up. There was a little wait, but a place this good expect it.

If everyone would order the cinnamon roll (which is offered as one of your toast sides) then this place would be 5 stars across the board. I hate myself for only trying it now when I have been coming here for a year.

The breakdown. 1. Awesome food (got the scrambler) 2. Great Coffee 3. Great Service 4. Great location I have nothing bad to say about this place. Get there eary or you will wait though, but it's worth it!

Excellent. Friendly staff, especially the host. The cinnamon rolls are scrumptious. We will go back. Wait is worth it and they serve coffee while you wait. Definitely a local crowd.

I mourn whomsoever's soul was sold in exchange for the secret behind the impeccable salsa. We couldn't figure out what they'd done to it, aside from the possibility that cumin may have had a supporting role. I had an artichoke-heart highlighted, egg-free breakfast dish and felt that I couldn't have been happier while alternately conversing and sipping green tea. Special thanks to the staff who were amazingly composed, kind, and patient while tirelessly satiating the starving populace.

I tried brunch here for the first time today and was very pleased. We got there at around 11, helped ourselves to coffee, and waited about 15 minutes for a table for two. I got the Cajun Sausage Scramble ($9.25) with a raspberry muffin and Dylan got Asher's Insanity ($9), which was artichoke hearts, avocado, pesto, and green onions tucked into a flour tortilla. I couldn't have asked for anything more of either of our choices, and the potatoes were excellent - crispy outside, soft inside, and very flavorful. The atmosphere was cozy and homey, and our server was great. We'll definitely return!

Overdue review on eggs benedict on Halloween- overall good fix but they added this sour creamy sauce that wasn't in our favor. The cinnamon bun was very good and hot. Although be sure to eat it when its hot, it loses its unique-ness when its cold and it was oily too. I would go somewhere else for eggs benedict.

My favorite breakfast in Santa Cruz! My wife and I have split the greek scramble with two cinnamon rolls for years now - best deal around. Very accommodating for our kids too, great toys, coloring books. Come early or be prepared to stand in line.

Great breakfast place. The line can be long on the weekends, so get there early. Tex and Claire treat you like family as does everyone who works there. You can substitute things without hassle as well. Bring cash if you go - they don't take credit cards. There's an ATM in the restaurant if you forget.

  • Alexis C.

If I were to put 1 start here would less people come and then I do not have to wait in line :) Nah..If I could put a 10 I would. This is one of the best restaurant's year over year in Santa Cruz when you are looking for breakfast or lunch. I recommend the homemade muffins (they are different everyday). Thier daily specials menu might as well be the menu. The benedict is worth the calories. Finally the chicken apple sausage is delicious as well. One thing to mention. Linda's is kind to the early bird and cruel to late riser. Get there before 8:30am if you don't want to wait outside. If you find yourself outside...to keep you waiting they have an outside coffee service and yes the coffee is good here.

Food was good - mediterrean omelet and cheese omelet, both servied with home fries and toast (or muffin). Service wasn't too great. Waitress didn't come to check on us or refill our drinks, went all around us though. Place was packed. Signed self in, and waited, but only for 5 mintues or so - Saturday morning. Complimentary coffee on the side bench area where we were waiting. Would rate higher if the service was better, felt a bit like they were just trying to move us on as quickly as possible.

  • Earle H.

I ordered the turkey omelette or something to that effect, with the potatoes. I wanted to stray from the beaten path while having a fairly healthier alternative to some of the heavier meat options. This dish didn't disappoint. It was really good! My server brought some fresh salsa to the table to go with my dish. I ordered the fresh baked blackberry muffin as my standard baked option. The muffin was REALLY good, especially since it was still warm. The service was excellent. The place is pretty cozy so the staff is quite busy but they are pleasant and very attentive and accommodating. The portions large without being too over the top; just enough to be satisfied and save some for later. There were many other items on the menu that looked pretty tasty as well and if they're at least as good as the dish I had, (in my "Terminator" voice) I 'll be back.

A definite 5 stars! From the customer service, to the daily specials, to the cinnamon roll to the home made salsa... Seabreeze Cafe is phenomenal!! We stopped by for breakfast on a whim after reviewing trusty yelp. We were seated immediately and greeted by the most gracious waitress. She recommended the Habanera Scramble with chicken apple sausages. It was delicious! And they didn't skimp on the sausage either. The plate was filled with sausage and egg scramble, a side of perfectly crispy potatoes and fruit. To top it off, it also came with your choice of cinnamon roll or raspberry muffin. Make sure to order the cinnamon roll. It's amazing!! Warm and fresh and it didn't even need any icing. I highly recommend Seabreeze Cafe for breakfast or brunch. I'm sure they won't disappoint for lunch or dinner either.

This place knocked my socks off! Came here for a late brunch that was SO GOOD. I have a Denver omelet with crispy bacon instead of ham and the BF had the steak sandwich and homemade chicken curry soup. YUM! We loved it and can't wait to go back!

Comfortable and Friendly We stopped in on a Friday mid morning and found the place fairly full but no lines. After seating, a very nice waitress asked if we minded moving to a different table to let them combine our table with another to accommodate a larger party. Not really a problem, as she asked so nicely and we hadn't even gotten our drinks yet. To our surprise, everyone kept thanking us after we moved, and she gave us a complimentary cinnamon roll for our trouble. That's the kind of service and thoughtfulness you get here. The food was good with large portions. Very nice, friendly, attentive service. My wife had the blueberry pan cakes with eggs and sausage. I had a special jalapeno scramble. The scramble was not as spicy as I thought it would be, and the potatoes were tasty but a bit overdone, but I liked the salsa they provided with it. It was far more than we could have finished and the friendly waitress carefully boxed up everything. Just a couple of tips -- its Cash only and I'd recommend you don't park in the tiny parking lot when it's crowded as it would be hard to back out when you're done. Bottom line, this is a very good place for brunch.

  • Mike M.

Had breakfast here on a Monday at about 8:30 am. While the place was a little hard to find, it was worth it. The building is unprepossessing when you drive up to it, and the interior looks like many older places you see that you might pass up if you didn't know what was there. The breakfast special was excellent, and the service made me feel right at home. The coffee was some of the best coffee I've tasted at any restaurant, and I could not finish all of the breakfast. I'm not a fan of apple chicken sausages, but I had some that my wife ordered and they were great. Our waitress made us feel like we were guests at the restaurant, not just customers The prices were about on par with many restaurants, but the whole experience was much better. One note -- bring CASH or CHECKS -- they don't take credit cards. If you're in the area looking for a good breakfast, you probably won't go wrong here. I will definitelt hit it again when I'm in the area.

Great omelette. Great pancakes. Mostly a local hangout. Food ingredients were fresh and tasty. Service was ok, not too friendly but again a local hangout and caters to locals. Not too far from the boardwalk. Parking is limited (very limited).

Awesome breakfast. Had the Tostada omelet with egg whites. Was so good as were the potatoes and jam for the toast. Short wait on a Monday morning but so worth it. My sons had the waffles and liked it, but my omelet was way better. I am definitely going back

Absolutely fantastic. The Juevos Rancheros were out of this world and don't leave without trying a cinnamon roll! Bomb!! Girlfriend had the Mendocino which was also super good. Worth the wait for sure and they have coffee sitting outside for those that are waiting for a table.

Love LInda's but what a rude person answering the phone ... Called at 11:30am to see how long wait was .... "We'll of course" as if to say to dumb fool, ... I say , ok thanks ... Phone just goes dead. .

The food was totally delicious! The homefries were cooked to perfection as were the mushrooms in my husband's omelette. The food was super hot and seasoned perfectly. You could tell that they took pride in the food that went out of the kitchen. Being our first time in Santa Cruz, the menu options really gave us a flavor for the town. From tofu being offered as a substitute for eggs and brown rice as a substitute for home fries we got how earthy the town is. It's not a bad thing, but a culture shock coming from the suburbs of LA.

  • Aaron L.

My friends introduced me to Linda's, telling me about the muffins. Forget the muffins, its all about the homemade cinnamon rolls! Linda's has quietly crept up into the A list of Santa Cruz breakfast spots, so when you come for breakfast on the weekend, expect to be seated about time for brunch. Luckily, there is self-serve coffee outside, and ample seating. Being in a rush for breakfast just ruins it to begin with, so relax. I've eaten here a few times, and liked everything I have had. The service tends to move quickly, and they do a good job of moving people through the dining room; the list moves deceptively fast. Aside from the muffins and rolls (which are fantastic) there is no other single unique item to flag -- everything is uniformly very good and satisfying. Large portions, but not huge ones. Oh, and bring cash! Not taking credit is always a sign of good food.

  • Susan D.

Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm! What a gem in Santa Cruz. The wait on a Sunday was long but oh so worth it. The servings are huge! I ordered an egg special that came with a side of plantains, and potatoes. It was scrumptious. The homemade salsa was also wonderful. We split a cinnamon roll; it was decadent. I had to order one to go to bring home for my daughter. The host and waitress were very friendly. My new favorite brunch spot in Santa Cruz. Parking is tight, but there is also metered parking on the street. My son forgot to tell me it's cash only, luckily I had just gone to the bank although I think I saw an ATM at the back of the cafe. Get there early because they were erasing specials off the board as they ran out of ingredients.

As East Coast folk, we did not know the area well, but found this place online and it did not disappoint. The eggs and bacon were excellent. The blueberry pancakes were a tad bit dry and crumbly, but overall were still very good. If I find myself in Santa Cruz again and in need of breakfast, I will definitely be making my way here.

A great breakfast place in Santa Cruz. We were a little concerned about possible lines and a huge wait but we arrived at about 9:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning and we were seated in about 10 minutes. The parking lot is a bit small but we managed to get one of the spaces. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. I ordered a Chai and asked for soy milk instead of regular milk or cream and the waitress said "the soy milk tends to curdle a bit in the hot chai." Having made chai with soy milk myself I have experienced this as well so I was fine with it but impressed that the waitress even went so far as to tell me this, in case I didn't know. Our kids loved the Mickey Pancake and the chicken apple sausages. My wife had the eggs benedict and I had the Mendocino Scramble. Great flavor and ample quantity. My only complaint was that the potatoes were a bit under seasoned but I could have added salt if needed (but I didn't bother since I had more than enough food even without the potatoes). My daughter loved the potatoes though so may have just been a personal preference on the seasoning. Very kid-friendly. I don't think I have ever been to a restaurant where they present the kids a little pail of crayons! My kids were impressed they had so many crayons at their disposal. In fact, my son was so proud of his coloring creation that he wanted us to take it home and it is proudly displayed on our fridge! A great breakfast overall!

I thnk I overhyped myself for this one a little bit...This place really is super small. I went on a Friday morning at about 10am and had a 20 minute wait...I can only imagine what it's like on weekends. The prices were fair, but the menu was pretty small. I had heard so much about the huevos rancheros that I really couldn't look at the rest of the menu the same--I was set on getting that. Well, they were out of beans...I figured "Beans shmeans...theres still all the rest of it, its okay!" Wrong. Apparently huevos rancheros without beans is like soup. The overeasy eggs, salsa, avo, and sour cream turned into this sloppy mess on top of the tortilla. The flavor was good, and my friends other dish was good too...but I'm pretty sure ordering that knowing there were no beans was my party foul. Anyway, it was all solid flavors. I'm going to have to go back to really solidify my review. I'd give this place a 3.5 right now with my last experience, but I'd try it again for sure.

My coworker and I tried this place out today for lunch, based on Yelp reviews and because it is down the street from our work. I was a bit put off my the atmosphere of the place. Pretty much as soon as I sat my butt in the chair, somone was over asking if I was ready to order. I had barely looked at the table in front of me let alone the menu. It seemed that everyone in the place knew eachother. The customers knew eachother by name, and they all knew the waitstaff by name. That's cute, but definitely felt out of place. My friend and I both got a sandwich with the salad. Nothing out of the ordinary but we were just looking for a simple lunch anyway. My friend did get a bit of passive aggressive grief for not eating the carrots on her salad. She was told she can ask to have them left off. All in all, the lunch food was fine, I wish I had tried the breakfast items instead. I was put off by the atmosphere and abrupt staff.

Amazing!! One of the best breakfasts I've ever had! We started with a chai tea latte- yum! Then ate a cinnamon roll, side of bacon, and potato and veggie skillet. All were fabulous. And the service is good. Free parking, too! Worth the wait!

The cinnamon roll is to die for!!!!! I don't think I've had any better anywhere in Santa Cruz! Really appreciate the endless coffee, helps you through the wait. I've only had omelettes here before, and those just aren't my favorite because the eggs end up cooked to much for my taste, but the ingredients are fresh and delicious! I wish they were scrambles! I can't wait to go back and try something else

I went for the first time today because of all the great reviews on Yelp. I ordered the Chicken Apple Sausage Special (3 LARGE links) which came with eggs, potatoes or fruit, and (the following breads are homemade) toast, sweet potato muffin or cinnamon roll. Sitting on the table was a jar of their homemade apricot jam- I love jam and this was delicious!!! The chicken sausage links--so good. The waitress was SO attentive and friendly! She asked me if I wanted salsa with my eggs; the salsa was so fresh (onions and cilantro was very crunchy!), coffee was great, and my server kept it coming! Cinnamon bun was soft and warm- just a tad bit too sugary for me, but such is the nature of cinnamon bun; I just forget that I have to be in a certain mood to want lots of sugar, but I wanted to try it bc of all the other yelpers reviews. Next time I will definitely get their fresh-baked bread and apricot jam- YUM, can't wait! For under $9 for the plate of food, and all the optional choices, it's far more preferable to Cafe Brasil (sorry CB, you are 10 steps away from my apartment, but I will drive to Linda's Seabreeze Cafe any day over you because of your long lines, rushed service and quantity of food for price). I didn't get my server's name and I should have because she was SO friendly- it was the icing on my cake. Thank you Linda's Seabreeze Cafe and your friendly staff! P.S. Note they don't accept credit cards, but checks are ok, and they have an ATM. : )

Linda's is bar none my favorite place to get breakfast in Santa Cruz. Friendly service, not too expensive and breakfasts that have you licking your plate they are so yummy. Yes this place is popular and there's always a wait on the weekends but they have coffee waiting for you outside and it's a nice place to hang out and anticipate your great meal. If you get up a little earlier of course the wait is next to nothing. *One thing that tells me the people who run this place care: Even the condiments are top quality, the jams and salsas are awesome.

This is by far the best breakfast spot in S.C.! Great food, service, and people! The owners and employees are as nice as it gets! I've been eating here for a decade, and have never had a bad meal! The wait (especially on weekends) can be daunting, but it's so worth it! And it's mitigated by the fact that the kitchen gets orders out at the speed of light! But it's not just breakfast! They have the best burgers I've had in all of S.C., and their real turkey sandwich is a rarity! Try it once, and you're hooked for life!

Man, I didn't know how good I had it at Linda's until I moved away from Santa Cruz. Turns out great breakfast joints are a rare breed in other parts of California. My favorite part about Linda's is that they have amazing savory non-egg options. The tortilla with cheese/artichoke hearts/olives is phenomenal. Oh, Linda's. How I miss you.

AS GOOD AS IT GETS! Where to we begin about this fantastic down home neighborhood breakfast cafe. Food is wonderful and FAST! Waitresses are TOPS! All with an upbeat personality - they even remembered my name even though we live hundreds of miles away! AMAZING! Owner's name is Claire, and her daughter Corey, Jessica, and Adrian! A fun breakfast! No regrets! Cash only.

We arrived for breakfast at about 11:30am on a Saturday and there was a bit of a crowd outside, however other posters are correct. The food comes fast so the crowd and line go down fast. We were inside in about 10-15 minutes. The wait was made a bit easier with fresh coffee though. You bring your cup inside with you when called in. We got sat at a very small table in between the rear entrance and the kitchen. Not an ideal spot but we weren't complaining. For some, this could be an issue. My wife ordered the popeye omelette and I ordered the corn beef hash after confirming it was fresh made and not from a can. We also ordered a blueberry pancake (always HAVE to get a pancake or two) its our litmus test for "breakfast" places. Overall the experience was good, not great. One thing that was a home run was the pancake. Ties for first place in all the pancakes we have had. Fresh made, light, fluffy delicious. The omelette my wife got was rather watery. Likely due to the fresh mushrooms and I'm no chef but I think there has to be a way to remove the water prior to serving an omelette soup. The corn beef was fresh, and tastey but nonexistenet. It was about an 80/20 split of potatoes to corned beef, I wouldn't recommend it. The service was friendly and quick. You do really get in and out of here. We'll likely be back to give it another try, but will be getting something else. Here is the breakdown. The good: the pancake was awesome, the potatoes my wife got with her breakfast were well cooked and seasoned and the service is great. The bad: the watery omelettes and the corned beef flavored potatoes were a bit disappointing. The ugly: Parking. We lucked out and got some street parking right in front but if its a nice day and you can walk, just park a block or two away and don't try to get in the lot. It's small and everyone lounging about waiting for a table makes even more difficult to maneuver.

We had breakfast here on our first morning in Santa Cruz. We picked this place based on the Yelp reviews. We went on a Wednesday morning and arrived at about 8:30. We were able to be seated right away. With a 3-year old, this is very important, but having the 3-year old generally means we are at the restaurant relatively early. I ordered my standard breakfast fare of pancakes, eggs, and sausage/bacon. Most restaurants usually have a combo that includes all of these things. While the food and service were both good, I wasn't overwhelmed. The pancakes were the thick and fluffy variety (I prefer mine thin), but were not dense or heavy. The eggs were good and cooked as ordered. The sausage, however, was extremely greasy and salty (I love sausage, so don't tell me this is how they are supposed to taste). I could only eat one of the 2 links and even then, my belly felt a bit queasy. I should've gone for the bacon. My wife ordered bacon and it was cooked perfectly, just as she ordered. I should note that at about 9:15, the line outside was growing. By this point, there were 5 people on the sign-in sheet. This was a random Wednesday. I can't even imagine what the line is like at 9:15 on a Sunday morning! If I were in the neighborhood, I'd eat here again. But I wouldn't travel very far for it. There are too many other places for breakfast in Santa Cruz and one of them is bound to be closer (and just as good, if not better) than Linda's.

If there is one place that deserves every single minute spent in line that's definitely Linda's. The food is great-I particularly recommend the fish special and the cinnamon roll-and the vibe... well it just feels like you're on vacation every time you walk in. And because it's a little hidden with respect to the downtown breakfast places, it feels way more local. When somebody comes visit me it's assumed I take them to Linda's.

I eat here almost every week. What can I say? I am a sucker for a great breakfast joint, and this is the best breakfast joint in town. Probably the best breakfast joint in the county. Who cares if you have to wait to get in? Sign the clip board and ask Clare how long she thinks the wait will be. Take a walk to the beach and back. It's worth the wait. The printed menu isn't extensive but there are always great specials to be had. Jean loves the Huevos Chipotle. I am a fan of the chicken apple sausage. It's ALL good. The coffee is terrific. The chai is really good too. The service is always fast, friendly and efficient. The cinnamon rolls are yummy. I like to save the tender middle of the cinnamon roll for last. (like dessert for breakfast) The guys who do the cooking really know their stuff. The eggs are always cooked perfectly, the home fries rock. I could go on and on. Skip the crazy parking lot (unless you enjoy the challenge of backing your car out onto Seabright) and park on the street. There's plenty of free parking. You know the drill, they don't take credit cards. They have an ATM by the back door. They do take local checks. You can order food to go. Don't wait in the doorway for your table, go wait outside. Smile, it's the best breakfast for the next 100 miles.

We came here after I did some research on Yelp for a good affordable breakfast/lunch place and based on what other yelpers posted about Linda's Seabreeze Cafe we gave it a shot and we were not disappointed. The place is a little small, so try it during the week first. We went just a little before lunch time 11:30am or so and had no problem finding a cozy little table. I liked that we literally had one foot in the door and someone immediately greeted us and got us some coffee before we even had our coats off. Our waitress was friendly, and FAST but not overbearing. At the mere mention of water she overheard me and came running with some, low on cream for your coffee no problem noticed without us saying a word. Service was awesome!! We both ordered the Seabreeze spuds which were huge and delicious and their homade salsa some of the best I have had. I also liked that they had daily specials and a nice lunch menu with burgers and sandwiches. So for two people both having the Seabreeze spuds and lots of coffee the check was right around 20 bucks! So reasonable. I was a little sad that I didn't try the cinnamon rolls that other yelpers were talking about but I will save it for next time as we will be coming back soon! The only reason this place didn't get 5 stars from me was that it's cash only and the side of the building parking was a little funky but please don't let that stop you from coming to this fabulous place as it is well worth it!!!

I'm from out of town, but had a new Mustang to drive, wanted a road trip, so we're off to Santa Cruz for the day! Checked Yelp before leaving, and Linda's came up as popular. Plugged the address into the GPS, and we're off. Funny thing was, the drive down on 101 was foggy, drizzly, generally a nuisance. Coming through the mountains on highway 17, down past Felton, bingo! The fog disappeared, and into blinding sunlight. Way cool. Set the mood, we're having fun now! Found Linda's. The restaurant is kinda understated, no flashy neon, blinking lights, the door is on the side. Open that door, and most tables were occupied, with good smells wafting around and two waitresses bustling about with full plates of eggy looking breakfast meals. Good sign. It's always nice to go somewhere where the people are enjoying what they do, it defines the atmosphere. At Linda's the waitresses were prompt, efficient, polite, and not stressed the way servers are at chain restaurants with 500 tables of screaming urchins to attend to. Linda's has a kind of 60's cool going on, from the interior to the staff, and not in a rusty, dusty way, either. The ladies are sort of "hippy-ish", without turning into gals that could double as witches on Halloween. They're sweet, and professional. I ordered the spinach-mushroom-cheese omelette with potatoes, and my buddy ordered a sort of Turkey-green+red peppers-onions scramble also with potatoes. Both came quickly, large portions, with the toast we ordered, and the green Tabasco we requested. Right on. That's a big point. Just as requested. All hits, no misses. Really creative food, done right and quick. Nice. They also had a good house-made salsa that complimented the potatoes and eggs. With coffee and OJ, this meal hit the spot, was priced right, and the diverse assortment of customers was it's own comfort. I saw a mushroom burger with swiss go by on a plate, and wished I was still hungry and had more time. It looked really good. All in all, a great little eatery, tidy-sized, with friendly owner and staff. Can't remember the gentleman's name, he was also very polite, and on top of the busy flow. Great place to bring your newspaper, your homework, friends, and an appetite.Love it. Thanks!

So I thought I would never get to try this place out, because every time I'd come here, the wait was super long. This place couldn't be all bad if there was such a long line all the time. I came here with my cousin on a weekday morning. I had just taken her to the DMV and was wanting some breakfast food. It was a weekday, the line shouldn't be as long, right? Right! Though there was no parking in that really small, kind of crappy parking lot, we were seated right away. The service was very friendly. The atmosphere very home-y. Looking at the menu, it seemed rather small because it was printed on one sheet of paper, but there was actually a decent variety of dishes and everything looked/sounded amazing. I had such a hard time choosing I ordered a lot. And by a lot, I mean A LOT. The portions are huge. For how much I ordered, it could be two or three meals for me (I took the whole day to finish). Why did I order so much? I didn't know when would be the next time I'd be able to come here. I ordered the Tostada (cheese, ortega chile, avocado, olives, tomato, and sour cream, served open faced with warm tortillas) omelette with a side of the day's Pumpkin muffin instead of tortillas and a side order of a waffle. I seriously had half the table to myself. The food was really good. The Pumpkin muffin was kind of like eating a muffin version of pumpkin pie. The waffle was dense and delicious. My cousin also enjoyed her massive Breakfast Bird (fresh roasted turkey breast, avocado and cheese) omelette. What surprised me about her omelette was the turkey. It was actual chunks of chicken breast, rather than the chopped processed chunks some places use. I'm definitely coming back. As long as I'm not super starving so I can stand the wait.

I'm beginning to think that perhaps foodies don't venture out to the city by the boardwalk, because all the fine reviews have left me bereft. Linda's was another shocking average rather than a rocking epiphany. The coffee was hot, but didn't come often enough, IMO. I ordered the corned beef hash special and I was shocked at the meat to potato ratio, and not in a good way. My youngster got pancakes with a side of bacon and eggs. My eldest had the french toast. None of it was bad per se (with the aforementioned meat/potato ratio noted), but nothing rocked my world. Not a bad spot, but it doesn't rise to the level of awesome...Oh, and they only take cash and checks...

We came here for Mothers Day Brunch and had a 45 minute wait. And not one of those waits where they tell you it's going to be 45 minutes but it turns out to be shorter. We actually waited the full 45 minutes. We thought about leaving and finding somewhere else and were SOOO glad we didn't! It was totally worth the wait and more!! We had a party of 4 and all 4 of us said it was one of the best brunch meals we had ever eaten. Definitely worth coming here!

For those of you who have heard about the long wait for breakfast notorious at this eatery and choose to wake up at the crack o' dawn to get there before the rush, here's an insider tidbit that I did not know about but which pleased me greatly - they serve complimentary, STRONG coffee for you to sip on outside as you wait. So very nice. I made my boyfriend wake up at 8:30 last Saturday morning so that we could make it here early. He rarely wakes up before 1 on the weekends, and I had to suffer through his grumble-grumbles but, my friends, 'twas well worth it. After hearing so much about their amazing huevos rancheros here, I looked for it on the menu but found only the huevos chipotle (which I gathered was a spin-off of the aforementioned popular rancheros). I decided on the spin-off dish, which was fantastic. Black beans, eggs over-easy, cheese, half an avocado sliced, potatoes and chipotle sauce over corn tortillas. We also ordered blueberry pancakes for the table...so fluffy and guud. After pigging out the two of us went home and took a fat nap. A swell Saturday mornin' in SC.

I came here and got a cheeseburger for brunch. I thought it was good and everyone else thought it was fantastic, so while my opinion alone would probably have it rest at 3 stars for food I'm bumping it up a notch for the raves everyone else gave Linda's. When it comes to adorable-ness, though, I think this cafe takes the cake. Look at their cute aprons!

Spent the weekend in SC for my birthday with some friends and we ended it just right by having brunch at Linda's. The place is small and popular which means a long wait. They have a self-served coffee bar outside to get you started on breakfast and help you keep warm while you wait. After chilling our a$$es off for about 45 min we were greeted with great service. The menu was decent but make sure to look at the blackboard for the specials. Most of the people in our group opted for the specials. The food was great and the servings were plentiful. I had the huevos rancheros which came with 2 over-medium eggs, beans, flour tortilla, salsa, and I don't know what else, but it was delicious. It also came with a side of potatoes. And oh yeah, they serve ODWALLA orange juice!!! It's not breakfast without ODWALLA! This place was definitely wort the wait.

Came here last weekend, and so glad I did! I went there expecting to wait a while (reading other reviews), but was actually seated right away. Got the Cajun Omelet, sooo good and huge! PANCAKES!!!! Yum Yum! On my recent trip to Monterey we made a stop at Linda's Cafe for my weekly craving of moist, drowned in syrup pancakes. My pancakes were A+++ and this is what I said when I chomped on my bacon "OMG this is real pig!" very tasty. The place is small-mid size, but you can wait in the shaded area with the little coffee table. Bathroom = Clean

I loved the home-y feel and how it was so close to my friend's place! Great spot to start off a lazy Sunday :). I had the waffle special - huge waffle topped with FRESH strawberries, blueberries, bananas, kiwi, AND yogurt. It was pretty heavenly to say the least. The special won as I was sadly unable to finish my plate. Oh man it was some gooooood stuff though. I'll be back!!! And FYI - Cash only!

The owners are actually named Tex and Claire, who by the way are incredibly kind. I've been ordering here for over ten years and everything has always been right on. A non fussy establishment. The scrambles are interesting. My favorite items are the Tropical Waffle a "special" which is an oat/corn waffle with mango and Kiwi topped with yogurt or sour cream (splurge and try the sour cream), the cinnamon rolls (muffins) are amazing and on some Sundays they are now offering Cinnamon Roll French Toast. This isn't an organic, fussy, or slow food establishment, but it still works. BTW, They now have an ATM machine located in their cafe.

This has to among the best breakfast joints in town. There's fresh, tasty food, creative but not super-trendy specials, and beyond delicious homemade muffins. All this for reasonable $8.00-ish prices. Cash-only status is the only inconvenience. I also love the friendly 40 and 50-something ladies who serve as waitresses. I trust the food more when it comes from people who look like they know how to cook than snotty teenagers or bored college kids. The first time I visited I had to wait for over half an hour. But Last Saturday my sister and friend and I walked in and were seated almost immediately. Our food was served very quickly too. I had the Popeye omelette, made up of mushrooms, cheese and spinach. The mushrooms were fresh, not rubbery, and the spinach was wilted perfectly, not mushy. My cinnamon muffiin was more like a giant cinnamon roll, buttery, sweet and sugary, with bits of nuts, and a nice soft doughy center. Perfection. Later, while strolling on the wharf, a homeless man asked us if he could have the leftovers that we were carrying around. We handed them over. That was probably the best handout ever.

Mother and I stumbled upon this place while checking out my future digs in Santa Cruz. The wait was long, even for a Monday on a non-holiday weekend. I guess the lack of sun does not deter people from enjoying their summer vacation and lovely Monday morning brunches. I had the summer scramble, fresh fruit, and cinnamon roll. My mom also ordered a scramble with potatoes and a side of bacon. Everything was very much too my liking including the cinnamon roll muffin, which was terribly good. They also gave a happy birthday pancake to a patron while we were getting our check settled. The only two minuses were the price was definitely high for a breakfast joint (although I could have ordered less), and the $2.00 coffees are a bit blegh, even though they let us have them outside in nice little mugs.

My family really enjoyed breakfast here at Linda's Seabreeze Cafe. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful with yummy recommendations. The cafe is small, so if you have a huge crowd it might be tough to get a table. The homemade muffin of the day was Berry Chocolate chip and my daughter loved it! We ordered the Huervos Rancheros and a Scramble and they were excellent. The home fried red potatoes were cooked perfectly and were crisp (not burnt). Thank goodness for Yelp!, because the only reason we went there was because of the five star reviews.

I went to Linda's Seabreeze Cafe and enjoyed the meal so much. They don't take credit cards, so keep that in mind, but they do have an ATM in the back if you either didn't know or if you forgot your cash. I got the Seabreeze Spuds and was amazed by the amount of food I got for the relatively low price of the meal. Potatoes, mushrooms, green peppers, and tomatoes all covered with sour cream was a great meal! Go during the week if you want to avoid the wait!

OK here is the deal, Linda's is great for breakfast and at a very reasonable price. Hence, you have to get there early and get your name on the list. The food, my wife still has lucid dreams of the cinnamon roll muffins. I have alternated the seabreeze spuds and the hearts ahoy for years. It is a little snug with the tables so don't come if you have issues with your neighbor poking you with their elbows. The service is great and usually very friendly at anytime in the morning. Another of the don't miss Santa Cruz establishments. O, and bring cash! It is Santa Cruz.

    (5)
  • Terri G.

Without a doubt, the best breakfast in Santa Cruz. Nice portions and healthy choices. Check hours, as they are only open till 2 M-Sat. Sundays, they close at 1. Plan to wait, because there is always a line. But, you can have coffee while you wait, and there is enough seats along the side with shade and benches or sitting along the curbs while you wait. And, you will. So, be sure to enter the front and get your name on the waiting list, and they will come out and call your name when a table is available. There's nothing like Mom and Pop places to eat. Unlike the run of the mill franchises we see from town to town, this is what so many towns need and crave. You'll find this isn't a tourist location, but the wonderful spot is supported by the locals. Once you eat there, you'll know why. But then again, the operation hours are a big clue - success. Suggestion:, weekdays are easier to get in and out.

I love myself a good breakfast as I truly believe it is the most important meal of the day and it should also be delicious. There's never a day where I don't eat breakfast. However, getting up and waiting for breakfast is the reason why I don't go out as often for breakfast. and maybe also the fact that I love to sleep in. Hours are limited here. I wish all places serves breakfast all day. and it's also very small with limited seating so expect a wait. I didn't have to wait very long and the time i spent waiting I used to decide what i was going to get. Being an indecisive person, despite the smaller variety of choiced being veg, i still take a while to choose. I settled for the Tofu Fun while my boyfriend got the french toast with bananas. I went for the unhealthy, but very delicious choice of potatoes as my side, but others may opt for brown rice instead. Oh, and there are just too many options for this indecisive person here. brown rice or potatoes? cheese or no cheese? white bread, wheat bread, grain bread, raisin bread, hard bread, soft bread, bread bread?? ahh i don't know!!! Verdict? Dishes were great. although i feel like my tofu dish would've been more fit as a dinner plate served with steamed rice. (it's a good thing i got the potatoes! made it feel a little more breakfast-y). and the toast looked amazing. don't forget to look for the specials on the blackboard as they seem like they're worth trying. yum yum

i do love santa cruz! i also love finding local flavor. had a tasty breakfast at the seabreeze cafe while staying in town. they have coffee ready for you on the patio cause there is always a wait to eat (and it's cold outside). people come and go pretty quickly so the wait usually isn't very long. i had the 1 egg breakfast with potatoes and toast. the potatoes were delish and came with fresh salsa. large portions for not a lot of cash. p.s. cash only!!!

Went here for lunch on Friday and was very impressed by this tiny little establishment. The service is super friendly, and genuine too. I was super hungry and looking around at the different breakfast dishes at other people's tables made me want to eat n-o-w. There are only about 15 tables in the whole place and most of them were filled the entire time we were there. Our server was super friendly and just as important...seemed to be happy to be there. I decided to get the tuna melt because the last time I had one was at Goodies in San Jose and it was horrendous. This tuna melt was amazing. Perfectly toasted sourdough, just the right amount of cheese, tomatoes, and great tuna salad. The french fries were also some of the best I've had in a while. I want to go back for breakfast the first chance I get, when I have a little patience and maybe a snack before because it sounds like it's always super packed!

After waiting almost 40 minutes outside In the cold one has to wonder if it's worth it. The service is slow and has a real homespun quality. I got the Benedict and it was pretty good but the dusting of chili powder was unnecessary and not a welcome addition. My dining buddy got scrambled eggs and sausage with a blueberry muffin that only appeared after asking twice. Seems a shame. Place has great potential and the Santa Cruz local vibe can't be beat. I might entertain this place again but only if I were outside already.

I know that's I'm odd man out here, but, I must say that I don't enjoy this place. What is it with restaurants that have groups of people outside waiting to get in....just to eat basic breakfast food? It's most annoying, if you ask me. At least you get served coffee while you wait in the cold....that I think you have to pay for. How sweet. Too bad once you get inside, the service is slow, the food is average and the prices are high. End of review. What to look for while you're waiting for your food: The dirty carpets.

This is a classic little breakfast place with a great reputation for simple, fresh fare. Be prepared to wait on weekends....luckily, they put out coffee and newspapers and provide benches. They always have a great selection of specials, fresh muffins, and breakfast classics. They are happy to make substitutions and additions to make it just how you like. Small kitchen with fast turnover

Wow - we are just home from this Cafe' and completely and happily full to the brim. We are in Santa Cruz from Jersey, spending a week in hopes of finding the best of the best in Santa Cruz. Seabreeze is a winner and the first to make it on our list of Best Of's! We had a party of seven, one with a walker. Not an easy party to accommodate, this is a smaller scale place. After a pleasant 10 minute wait, we divided into 4/3 with our adult party of 4 at one table and our 3 children at another. We were far enough from the kids to almost forget they were with us. The staff completely took care of them!! Seriously! The staff was even kind enough to visit our table to let us know how they were doing (we had two different waitresses). Reviews for staff 5+! Me - platter of veggies/potatoes with cheese and eggs (added) on top. 5 stars, especially when fresh house salsa added. Services 5+! 70 y.o vegetarian - 5 stars for granola and fruit, macadamia/mango muffin. 5 stars service. 86 y.o - (hardest to please, almost never happy with a meal ) a whopping 4 stars (point lost for toast being to toasty....?), and he is still talking about how good his denver omelet was. Spouse - huevos rancheros - 5 stars, 5 + for service. 10 and 12 y.o. 5 stars for burgers, 5 stars for service. 8 y.o. - sadly, 1 star for waffle, BUT 5 stars for service. Check it out, plan for a wait, and enjoy!

Went here on Easter Sunday and enjoyed it. It took about 15 minutes for a table of two. My friend and I each ordered the Egg's Benedict, which was as good as any I've had. I also ordered the a blueberry Mickey Mouse pancake, which was ok -- not spectacular, but not bad either.

This really is one of Santa Cruz's best kept secrets. The lines can be kinda long but honestly everything there is so good it's worth it. I used to live in the Seabright Area and this was always a great stop in the aftermath of a long night. I think the best thing i ever had here was huevos rancheros, but like other people said shhhhhhhhh don't spread the word because the lines are already long enough

Stopped off at Linda's this morning. I had the Florentine omlette and it was SUPER delicious! The potatoes are full of lavor and the bacon in my omelette was nice and thick. I've never had a dish I didn't like here. Like people mention, get there early. It's one of the best bfast spots.

Look, I'm all for local breakfast joints. They have an ability to shine where others just *can't*. And the success / business of this neighborhood place can't be denied (of course it's the only local place open for b'fast within a mile and a half). That said, my review is simply "Meh - I've experienced better". First, people talk about how great this place is for kids. So we took our kid. No kids menu. Ummm no, I actually won't be ordering a three-egg omelet or suitcase-sized stack of pancakes for my 4 year old. Want to be kid-friendly? KID MENU. Yes, they have a few toys and books for kids. Prices are what they are. $9 omelets. $9 benes. $9 waffles. Perhaps worth it if the ingredients are phenom, definitely if they're a fancy, creative combination of flavorful yum you haven't experienced before or even if they're done perfectly But they were all done like $6 Hobees. Nothing creative on the menu, at all. Okay, so I'm paying for very average. The wait staff is super duper nice and efficient. It feels friendly. But unless you completely lack an average or better neighborhood breakfast joint of your own, there is no reason to go out of your way to find this place.

It may look like a mom-and-pop restaurant...but it is so much more! I grew up going to Linda's and still go there with the fam whenever I am in town. It's a great breakfast place worth waking up at 7am on Sunday morning for. 7am too early for you? No worries. If you don't mind a wait, just go inside to the counter, get a cup of coffee or Farmer Brother's hot chocolate, and take it outside for a pleasant wait on the curb or benches. The food can satisfy a wide range of palettes including vegetarians and people with sweet tooths (like me!). You can get a tofu scramble or a cinnamon muffin. If you like omelets but aren't too hungry, ask for a 2 egg omelet instead of the 3 eggs that they typically use (I used to do this when I was little. I was so proud of myself the first time I ate an entire 3 egg omelet!). Don't forget to check out the specials board! Family favorites are the huevos rancheros and the corned beef hash. I agree. Who cares if they don't take credit card? If you do find yourself without cash, go down to the corner to Day's Market and get cash there. I hope all locals and tourists alike enjoy Linda's as much as I have. I'll be there tomorrow morning at 7:30am. Anyone care to join?

Consistently excellent food, great coffee, and wonderful friendly service. My only complaint is that Lisa (waitress) will not marry me, even though I bring her champagne.

Just first of all, before anything, if you order something that comes with toast or muffin, get the CINNAMON ROLL. Ok, now that that's out of the way I can continue. Be prepared for a slight wait on weekdays, longer wait on the weekends. But that is the sure sign of a great place to do breakfast/brunch. This is the best breakfast/brunch place in Santa Cruz, and thankfully it is located far far away from Pacific Ave. so the hoards of students and tourists can't take it over! Good thing it is located near the beach because you will need that nice stroll after eating so you can comfortably sit down in your car to drive back home.

This place does so many things right! If you ever find yourself wanting breakfast in Santa Cruz, this is your spot. This cafe radiates happiness and good vibes. It starts with the waiting...for a table, which even gets 5 stars. Get your name on the list, then you can help yourself to a mug of coffee and wait on the patio or sit on the curb feeling the ocean breeze and people watching. Everyone is socializing and having a grand old time while they wait for a seat inside the small, cozy cafe. After enjoying that Sunday morning feeling for awhile, you get a table and a menu, and some very efficient, yet laid back and friendly service. I didn't feel rushed, but we were probably only at our table for 30 minutes or less. They were just on top of everything...feeding rounds and rounds of hungry people with speed and grace. I couldn't decide between the Greek Scramble and the Corn and Cilantro Pancakes from the specials board, so I got both! Thank goodness I only ordered one pancake and didn't have toast, because the portions are hearty. I chose Tofu for my scramble (tofu or eggs), and oh my it was delicious, fresh, and came out of the kitchen superfast! I couldn't decide whether to eat the Corn and Cilantro Pancakes with house-made salsa (so good) or maple syrup, so I alternated bites. I ended up having leftovers, but not from lack of trying...

Best breakfast joint in Santa Cruz! The cinnamon rolls are amazing - make sure to get a roll instead of toast on the side!

I came here today (a Tuesday) and only had a 15 minute wait. There is a longer (sometimes MUCH longer) wait on the weekends. While we were waiting we grabbed some coffee, tasty. We were seated quickly and helped right away. I ordered French toast and it was pretty good. I'm not sure what kind of bread they use, I know its Texas Toast but there's got to be something else in it. It was tasty! My sister and her friend split the Denver omelet and it was huge. I didn't taste the omelet but I tasted their potatoes----BOMB! And they also ordered a cinnamon roll (from the cute and much younger than me waiter) and it was yummy too. All in all great breakfast and I'll definitely be back. OH! And the price is right $21 before tip for 3 people!!

I went to Linda's yesterday morning and am still thinking about my experience. I found this spot here on yelp and am happy I tried it out. My fiance and I drove from Santa Clara to Santa Cruz on a mission to find a solid mom & pop breakfast place and enjoy the nice weather. She isn't the biggest breakfast fan but even she mentioned that she would return in a heart beat. She had the veggie omelet with potatoes and the cinnamon roll. That roll was so warm and fresh! I had the waffle with two eggs and bacon. Everything we ordered was perfect and all of the locals and servers were real nice too. We waited 30 minutes to be seated but the whole time was spent just talking to the regulars and enjoying the complimentary coffee just outside the restaurant. I'm a big fan of Linda's and this place deserves a five star rating.

Must say thank you to all other yelpers for recommending the Cinnamon rolls! I wish I could pack them up and bring them home. Although they could use a little bit of frosting but would eat the roll either way. Very small so make reservations if you want to go on a weekend. They eggs were really good (fresh) and the bacon was cooked perfect. I would definitely come back here. Everyone was very nice. Potatoes are not all that great as they are red with skins but that's just my personal preference. The best part good food and good service, hard to find these days.

Whoa, whoa, whoa people. Don't hate because they keep it real and don't take credit cards. Plan ahead. Deal with it. This is the best breakfast and early lunch place in the county. There are lines because it's good, so grab a paper and a complimentary cup of coffee, and relax a minute. Or you can come in before the hungover crowd (a member of which I've been on numerous occasions). At Linda's you're talking homemade, fresh, nothing processed, feel-good food. They have great staples with interesting specials as well. Homemade jam, salsa, and muffins. The service is prompt and friendly. The kitchen is fast. I've been here in a number of physical and mental states, and I've never left disappointed. This is a quintessential Seabright joint.

In short, the food sucked, the service was indifferent at best, the prices well above a REAL meal at the Silver Spur, which was closed the day we endured Linda's Seabreeze Cafe, and the day ended with all of us getting sick from their 'food'. Our son's eggs were a mess, my wife's Huevos Rancheros were canned beans with salsa and a few eggs badly cooked. My French Toast, bacon and home fries, a breakfast hard to screw up and that can be had all over the Santa Cruz area for much cheaper and better also couldn't suck enough. When the 'waitress' brought the food after every other person seated after us were already eating their meals (WTF?), she plunked down a cup of freakin' Aunt Jemima fake maple syrup for a 12.00 breakfast. When I asked if it was real maple syrup, she flatly replied: 'It's the standard syrup. Real maple syrup costs extra.' I asked her if I could please have the real thing. My food went cold as I waited and signaled to her I needed the syrup right away, while my food was still warm. After all that, we complained to her about my scorched bacon, the burnt coffee, the crazy-bad omelet of my son's, and the smashed canned bean-fest of a Huevos Rancheros omelet. She said if we'd complained when she brought it, she'd have gladly given us substitutes. We explained that we had to TRY it first, and in this packed, cramped and noisy cafe we'd repeatedly tried to get her attention to no avail to complain, we'd finally given up and tried to actually endure the way below mediocre, overpriced repast she'd flung our way. As a kicker, when she finally brought the 'meal', she dropped off the check. What class. When we left, I mentioned that Yelp might be our next stop online to recount our visit. She replied: "Go ahead, complain- Yelp loves us." May be, but this expensive waffle house is a sad testament to the poor taste of many Santa Cruz residents who are all too easily impressed by food that doesn't poison them. Which, BTW, this meal did- we all had the runs after eating there, and called the Health Department to report the restaurant. Would that we could do the same for their execrable quality- but I guess that's what Yelp is for. Be warned- if you want the runs, an empty wallet and the vague feeling you've been hustled, go here. Want a great meal, great service, and the afterglow of having a wonderful family meal? Go to the Silver Spur on Soquel Drive instead- lower prices, quieter LOCAL patrons, more room & comfort, great, fresh food and wonderfully warm service. No long wait on the yummy food, either. If you're gonna put your name on a list and have coffee while you wait on your name to be called, you might as well get what you pay for (Silver Spur Restaurant), instead of getting ripped off and perhaps food-poisoned at this dump. Linda's Seabreeze Cafe should be closed down by both the Health Department AND a lack of customers. It's every bit *that* bad. The worst $50.00 we ever spent, hands-down.

I was introduced to this place by someone who told me it was a Famous in Santa Cruz.. I've lived in Santa Cruz for over a year and I keep finding out about these famous places. I'm discovering that 'locals' famous and 'touris' famous are definitly different things. Like anywhere I suppose. We did wait in line for an hour and a half, but to be fair, it was Sunday at 10:30am. We had the Sunday paper and they gave us coffee and it was a lovely day so why the hell not. I noticed that the waitstaff, the people waiting and the people eating were all very content. Even though there was literally people around the block, no one felt rushed. As I often feel rushed, even on a weekend, it was nice to feel relaxed. If you are in a hurry, don't eat here, end of story. I had Eggs Benedict, because that is pretty much how I judge any breakfast place. It was good. Not hour and a half wait good, but good. So far Cafe Brazil still wins. I also had to deduct a star for not having Mimosas. I'm a semi-professional drinker and a hair of the dog on a sunday morning is much needed. I considered going down the street and getting some vodka to sneak into my orange juice, but then I realized I'd have to go to rehab. And what with going to breakfast at places that have a long wait, I don't have the time.

I went here on a Friday afternoon and got lucky because my Aunt and I snagged the last open table. The people here could not be more friendly and the food is delicious! They had a chocolate cake with cream cheese icing on the special board that we were talked into taking home and it was SO good. The turkey was so good on the sandwiches, real roasted turkey and not lunch meat. I would come here again when I'm in Santa Cruz again... it was great.

Really good breakfast and nice little place. A little pricier than some of the other breakfast places in town but totally worth it because it's a little more food and little better than some of the other breakfast places in town.

Great food, moody and miserable service! I went there with some relatives. They were out of the special and the server spent a few minutes telling us how she was doing us a favor by charging us a dollar more per order than the special for a facsimile of it. After we talked to a manager, we worked out the price, but the server basically stopped serving us. We had to get up and ask for everything: more coffee, water refills, syrup, even the check. Never once did she ask if we were enjoying the food or if we needed anything. Great food, and I guess we saved money on the tip.

Best Eggs Bendict on the West Coast (perhaps anywhere in USA) When they are on the Daily Specials Board, try them, you'll be in seventh heaven. Light, delicious classical eggs benedict, with eggs poached to perfection. However if Eggs Benedict is not your style everything they offer is excellent both for breakfast and lunch. We go to Lindas for breakfast every day and have done so for years.

My first thought was give it 4 stars because of the wait. But you know what.... the last couple of times I've been here I did the wait and I didn't mind. The food is worth it and they give you a chai if you want it while you're waiting. Everything has always been delicious, you can't go wrong!

What a cute place this is. The dining room itself is really tiny but has a lot of cute artwork on the walls including a painting of the owner. I really got a sense that the people who run it, love it. If you chance to go to this place, expect a short wait because there are always people outside waiting. Luckily they serve coffee while you wait and have a shady bench spot to sit down and relax in. I had snagged a menu while I waited outside so I could check out the food choices. It may just be because I'm a libra and can't make decisions for the life of me but by the time I was seated I still hadn't picked anything out. At first glance the menu looks pretty basic but once you dig a little deeper, you find some hidden treasures. I was tempted to get their oatmeal and some fruit or their homemade granola or maybe an omelet too. While I sat down the owner reminded me to look at the specials board and when I did, I knew I was in trouble. Orange poppy seed pancakes, vegetable scrambles galore! When we got our food, we all ended up eating off of each others' plates because everything was so good. I can't wait to come back and try out more things. It's a wonderful place to eat after a Sunday run or as a hangover cure from the night before. The service is friendly, the prices are right and the food is great!

CASH ONLY. -1 Star (also for horribly long lines on the weekends) Arghhhhh. Cash cash cash. Who really caries cash around these days? ALSO: They close at 2pm on most days, 1pm on Sundays, so prepare accordingly. Be aware that the food here is super greasy, too. If you're willing to stand in line for up to an hour, or can swing by, leave your name, and come back, this is totally worth the trouble. The food here is always good and greasy, like a breakfast should be. I don't know where the name greasy spoon came from, but the name fits. I had brunch here the other day with my girlfriend for a total of $25 (including 20% tip) which included two INSANE omelettes, stuffed with more...well, stuffing, than I thought possible. A HUGE portion of home fried potatoes, toast, fresh squeezed orange juice. Etc. AKA: we left full. Yay! Just remember, if you're starving when you leave your house, chances are you'll want to go someplace quicker. Like burger king.

This place was great!!! The staff was friendly. Food was so good. My husband ordered the omelet. I ordered a scramble. We both got the cinnamon bun it comes with. And the bathroom was so clean. Always a good sign. We highly recommend this place.

We had the most awesome experience/breakfast here yesterday morning. A little bit of a wait, but they serve delicious coffee outside while you wait for your table. Awesome service and delicious food! I had the special Habinero Scramble which was delicious with their freshly made salsa! My fiance' had the Chicken Apple Sausage and eggs. Our waitress was fabulous - wish I could remember her name. Everything was good - the service, the food, the coffee, the toast and the jam! Quaint and lovely place - highly recommend to all who have the chance to go there!

I had a really great experience this Sunday morning. I've had breakfast here before and the food is always yummy but I've usually felt rushed after waiting a long time to be seated. We were lucky this Sunday morning after Christmas, that people were staying home and we walked right in to an available table. We immediately got some coffee and were in a quandry about which of the specials to order, one sounding better than the next. I finally settled on the eggs benedict. I'm super fussy when it comes to hollandaise sauce and this one didn't disappoint me. The eggs were done just right and the ham was flavorful. Served with fresh fruit and cottage potatoes, it hit all the right spots! Scott ordered the green chile scramble which I tried and it was delicious. Sometimes places tend to overdo the cheese or some other ingredient, which over powers the meal. This scramble was just the right amount of all the ingredients to appreciate each flavor. The crowning glory was the cinnamon roll, Happy tummies!!

  • T.Z. R.

Very solid, basic breakfast place. Expect a line, but also expect to get in: they never turn people away. Avoid the blueberry pancakes like the plague. They're giant and will not hesitate to EAT YOUR SOUL with bland fastidiousness. And what the hell is up with the picture of Mike Rotkin?? I want to dock another star just for that.

I live right down the street and I come here at least once a week. Their orange-poppy seed pancakes are addictive. Plus they have self serve coffee while you wait for a table. Every single server is awesome too. 5 stars for Seabreeze!

Really good breakfast. A couple of complaints, but not enough to knock any stars off. If you get there later in the morning there is usually a wait and they are out of the specials. The cinnamon rolls are the best I have ever had. The omlettes are outstanding as are the home fries. Best breakfast in Santa Cruz.

SO glad we came here for breakfast! We Yelped it on our way to Capitola, and since we were starving, our experience could have gone one way or the other, and it went the excellent way :) There was a 10-15 minute wait for us, but there was coffee outside while we waited for a table inside. Once we were inside, the service was just the best. We were seated at a cute little table inside the small restaurant; I think having fewer tables made it easier to provide better service. We were brought out water right away and ordered our food right after. Our meals came out within 5 minutes! I wanted the Greek scramble, and they did half eggs and half tofu at might request. I also got the side of fruit and a side muffin (both came with the breakfast - the fruit was fresh and the muffin was homemade, though a little dry). My scramble was amazing, fresh and delicious. The prices were not bad either - $8.25 for my scramble. The BF loves corned beef hash, and while it wasn't on the regular menu, it was a special, and our server informed us it was the last one, so that worked out especially well! Thanks so much!

If Brasil was too busy and we were feeling more upscale than Paula's, it was always off to Linda's Seabreeze Cafe. The cafe is tiny so waits can be long on weekends, but they keep you happy with bottomless coffee. Their specials are usually very good, particuarly those involving eggs (and i don't really like eggs). I've also always been a fan of their fresh baked muffins. Cash only!

  • Alejandro D.

This place was pretty cool. Pretty good service, good prices and a nice cute atmosphere. I did have to wait like 15-20 minutes on a Monday at 10:30 am which is not unusual for this place but is for many other establishments. The food was great! I had special french toast which had fruit (strawberry, kiwi and banana) and yogurt on 4 grain bread. It was pretty delicious. The strawberries were a bit sour and the bread a bit weird tasting without the syrup on it but otherwise i loved it.

  • Stephanie I.

I still think about the cinnamon rolls. They come as a side with a lot of the menu items and are so very good. My husband had the best pancakes ever-poppyseed and orange whih was one of the daily specials listed on the wall board. I kept taking bites of his food because they were so fluffy and flavorful. One of our guests had the waffles that were covered in fruit. She took 1/2 or her breakfast home because the order was so large. Another companion ordered one of the omelets so we all tasted the homemade salsa. It is excellent. This is a perfect spot for breakfast or brunch.

Haven't been here in a while and my visit this weekend made me remember that I need to come here more often. I had the notion in my head that they were a lot heavier on the "scambles" without much else to choose from but I was wrong - there's really something for everyone. Pancakes, waffles, juices, fruit, oatmeal, omlettes, meat n' eggs, and of course scrables. Don't forget to check out at the specials board. Long wait on the weekends, but if you arrive before 8:30 it's unlikely to be more than 10 minutes. I'm cautious about doing a post-run breakfast here because the tables are a little close together to be stinky. And finally, a place that refills my coffee as quickly as I drink it. I swear, I think there was a dedicated coffee-refiller! Oh, one more thing: you can have the scrambles and omlettes made with an egg white mixture instead of the real deal. Keeps the calorie and cholesterol count down in case you plan to eat breakfast out more often... which I do!

Looking for somewhere to have breakfast before leaving our son at SC for school, checked Yelp for help and could not have made a better choice. Full place, but no worries you can help yourself to a cup of coffee whilst you wait. This place is great! The people are friendly and helpful when it comes to ordering. Ordered chipotle eggs, wonderful! The homemade salsa was exquisite. Will definitely return when back in town

I discovered this place while killing time getting my car serviced at Subaru of Santa Cruz. And every time I got my car serviced after that, I came here to get a hearty breakfast. The food is filling and delicious! I've never had to wait long, but then again, I was by myself most of the time. The coffee is tasty and the service was pretty good the times I've gone. I've tried the french toast breakfast and the spinach and mushroom omelets. I don't remember the other dishes I tried, but I remember I enjoyed all my visits. They take personal checks if you don't have cash.

I have been eating here for around 8 years now.... I don't have any complaints. Well ok, the wait can be a little long sometimes, but that is not their fault. This is without a doubt one of my favorite breakfast place EVER!! Linda's is small, cozy & intimate. There is usually a longer wait on weekends ,but the wait definitely worth it! The service is excellent and I'm amazed at how fast my food comes out every time. I would recommend trying one of their specials.

Cinnamon roll. Breakfast bird: a huge piece of turkey (not weird little chopped-up necks and gristle like you get in some omelets), lots of cheese, and a half an avocado (no skimping at all), wrapped in a fluffy egg omelet. Cornmeal waffle topped with fruit (lots of kiwi, nummy) and yogurt. Best pancakes in town. Good coffee. Nice servers. Stupid awful bored-middle-aged-housewife art on the walls to laugh at. Yes there's a long wait on weekend mornings - enjoy the salty sea air, take a stroll around the block, get a mocha at the Java Junction, come back and your table is ready sir. Cash or check only, but there's an ATM at the market on the corner.

i am a breakfast person, and this is the best breakfast in santa cruz. there, i said it. i feel bad for some of my other favorites, but the seabreeze really is the cream of the crop. everything about the food is perfect. every bite feels like it is prepared with mother's care (if you, like me, had a mom who was an incredible cook.) the food tastes fresh and just...well...good. do not miss the home made muffins...instead of guilty, you will actually feel healthier after eating them. do not ignore the warnings about the wait on weekends (expect at least 30 mins!) it is bad, but no worse than any of the other premium spots (i.e. zachary's, brazil.) have one intrepid member of your party swing by 20 mins early to put their name on the list...or, if it's a nice morning, plan to spend some time drinking coffee outside and reading the goodtimes. also heed: they do not accept credit cards!!!! i would stop eating anywhere else in town if they started accepting credit cards. as it is, i only go there on the rare occasion when i know i have the cash. seriously guys, join us in the new millennium. you deserve the five stars for having the best breakfast in town, but this irritation keeps me away.

Excellent breakfast spot in Santa Cruz! It was an awesome place to grab breakfast with the family on Father's Day. A few does and don'ts: Do: -arrive early. The line to get table gets really long really fast and early in the morning. After 8 it gets packed -order a cinnamon roll! They are delicious!! I loved it! All of the pastries and breads are baked in house! -try the salsa!! It is homemade and delicious! - go to the Verve coffee. It is around the corner on Bronson street. And their coffee is excellent! Especially if you have a wait. Don't: - park in the lot. It is really crowded and very difficult to get out of. -be impatient. The foood is delicious! And it is worth the wait! Don't be discouraged.

I was brought here by a friend while on a brief visit. It was wonderful, a great menu with fabulous specials combined with very nice service. We went late on a Friday morning and didn't wait at all for a lovely table by the window. I had the Greek scrambler with spuds, a choice that I was very happy with. My friend had been raving about the muffins and cinnamon buns baked fresh in house, so I went with the cinnamon bun. There are no words to describe how amazing their cinnamon bun is, you just have to try it for yourself. I highly recommend to anyone and look forward to returning on my next visit.

It's a crowded and popular place, but based on our experience, we're not sure why. The Eggs Over Easy were nothing special. The sausage was smokey, but thinner than expected, sour, and had a strange aftertaste. The blueberry muffin was dry. The bacon was crispy and not greasy, but cold, fatty, and parts of it were still raw. The side of fruit that came with the Eggs Benedict was served on top of the Hollandaise sauce instead of in a separate dish, which ruined it. This was surprising since the side of fruit that came with the Eggs Over Easy was in a separate dish. Like the sausage, the Benedict was also too sour. So, should you try now? Never.

Awesome brunch place. The food is delicious, fresh and the portions are plentiful. What more can you ask for? Maybe good service? Check. Everyone there is super friendly. The wait times are as expected, a little longer than desirable, so take good company and to pass the time. Try out the Greek Omelet.

Linda's has been my favorite breakfast spot for more than 15 years. The food is great, the service is terrific. Crowded on weekends, but always worth the wait! Linda's is a "can't be beat" experience

5 + Stars! The Place: is a small, quaint, famr-house decor, house-looking place right off one of Santa Cruz' neighborly streets. You would think, given the 242+ reviews on this place, their devoted fans would have caused them to expand, but no-- and I love it. Not expanding has left them with a great, home-cooked feel. Plus, you meet visitors and locals while waiting outside and sipping your coffee (yes, they serve coffee outside! Just remember to bring your cup with you to the table so they add it to your bill.) The Service: was great. Our waitress was very pleasant, quick, thoughtful and attentitive. She checked on us often, but not overbearing! Thank GOODNESS! The Food: Aw, geeze. . . I don't know that the words: "best breakfast I've ever tasted in my LIFE" could truly encompass how delightfully pleased my friends and I were with our orders. I got the Florentine Omelette with the country potatoes and one of their famous cin rolls. UGH! AMAZING! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Great food. GREAT!

A great little spot. Clearly a local hangout as everybody knew everybody. Don't be surprised if one of the locals saddles up to your table for a morning conversation. It happened while we were there...not to us, but to the father /daughter pair sitting next to us. I had the sausage scramble which was delicious. The service was great and friendly. Toast was a little burnt, but other than that no complaints.

We were disappointed in Linda's. The biggest problem was one of the 4 of us ordered the salmon and it was significantly undercooked. He was sick later, and so was I - from a skillet dish with artichoke hearts. The coffee was weak, and it's not free - you drink outside while waiting but then get charged when you bring the cup in. The cinnamon roll was below average - and could have been how I got sick? Cute place and popular, but all of us underwhelmed, and two of us sick, doesn't bode well for a return trip. The waitress was pleasant, and took the salmon off the bill.

After placing and PAYING for a order to go I was asked to wait outside. I thought this was rude and uncool. Good Food for Good Money should warrant a seat till order is ready!!!

Last year my boyfriend and I were traveling up the coast and decided to stop in Santa Cruz. We wanted a good breakfast and came across Linda's Seabreeze Cafe. I just started writing here on Yelp and knew I had to do this review even though it's been several months since I've eaten here. The Eggs Benedict I had was amazing! The eggs were cooked perfectly and everything just went so well together. I ate every last bite! My boyfriend loves cinnabons...So of course we tried the cinnabon muffin! It was the best cinnabon muffin I've ever had! I forgot what my bf got...but I do remember him saying that mine was better than his. Also, I noticed that a lot of the waiters were calling customers by their first name. To me this is a good sign because there are a lot of regulars here This place is nestled between houses on a non-major road. The wait is long...but they have a coffee pot outside and several benches for their guests. There is also a small parking lot next to the building which is in front of house. There are also parking on the street. The place is really small, but I'm telling you, if you're in Santa Cruz, you need to eat here at least once...it's defiantly worth the wait. Can't wait to go back!

This place is awesome. Had The Bird omelette and it was off the hook. Turkey, perfect avocado, and eggs whites for no extra charge. Make sure to try the salsa its ridiculously good as well as the homemade preserves (i think it was raspberry). Even the OJ was fresh squeezed and excellent. Really a perfect breakfast...cant imagine not giving this place a 5. Try it!

  • Bryan B.

Be ready for a wait as it's a cozy little spot, but extremely popular. However, once you take your first bite, you'll realize that the wait was worth it. Deliciously huge portions at a reasonable price. There's even a coffee "bar" to tide you over while you wait for a table to open up. Anyone up for a great little breakfast spot with throwback charm should definitely give this place a shot.

Incredible! Everything was delicious and the service was impeccable! From the homemade scrapple to the fried potatoes with herbs and perfectly cooked eggs. The coffee was spot on and my cup was never empty! I will be making this a destination on every Santa Cruz trip for sure! Highly recommended!!!

The best breakfast of our vacation, of all the places we had breakfast on our slow meandering drive up the coast to San Francisco. The staff was warm and friendly. The food was fresh, nutritious and delicious. The cafe itself is cozy. The coffee was great and my cup was never empty. The best way to start our journey north from beautiful Santa Cruz!

We frequent the Santa Cruz area but hadn't made it to Sea Breeze Cafe yet. SO glad we did! We were greeted with smiles and delicious aromas. The four breakfasts our party ordered were fabulous. Two of us were really wanting hash browns rather than home fries. Our sweet waitress said no problem but it would take about ten minutes longer. Well worth the wait! Wish we had seen the specials menu earlier but we will look for it next time. We will definitely be back!

It's been a long time since we had breakfast here last time, so we decided to go back. I remember the place was pretty good last time. I ordered Egg's Benedict and my husband ordered Mahi Mahi special. My Benedict was such a disappointing. It was the worst eggs Benedict I've ever had in my life! I thought of sending it away, but I decided to eat at least about a half of it without complaining... - My food was COLD... Not just the Benedict, the potatoes, sauce, eggs, bread and the plate!! Everything was cold!!! - The English muffin was burnt and cold. - They poured way too much sauce and the sauce wasn't very good, and cold!! - My husband's brown rice was also very cold. - No steam coming from any food on the plate. I would certainly notice it if I were the waiter and make sure not to serve it to my customers. - Service was just ok. The waiter keeps bringing the wrong stuff and she was not attentive. We had to try to get attention for more coffee, more water and the check. I think this place is way overrated.

Visiting from out of town and just googled places for breakfast. Found this place and decided to go with it, everything was perfect! Super fast service, nice people and excellent food! Bacon was extra crispy, who doesn't like crispy bacon!! I will be back for sure. One negative- it's a cash only place.

My husband and I stumbled upon this charming place after a 1 night stay in Santa Cruz. We thought it was a great find with great service! It is small so there may be a wait, but we noticed they had coffee outside for customers waiting which was a nice touch. I got a scramble with mushrooms & green onions. I thought it had great flavor. Solid job on the potatoes. The cinnamon roll was delightful and I shared it with my husband so he could try it. He got bacon and eggs, so not much to say there. Something to note is that it is CASH ONLY. Luckily, they have an ATM in house that's got a pretty low fee...better than what some cash only places do. I just appreciate more forms of accepted payment as it makes my life easier as a customer. Overall, our experience was great.

Cinnamon roll was good, but just came with a side of butter. I guess I'm used to some kind of frosting, but there was none which left me disappointed. I got a basic egg dish with potatoes and toast. My husband got a stack of pancakes. All was good, but not out of the ordinary. Cute little place tho and quick service.

Follow the yelp gallery. The cinnamon roll is as good as yelpers have described, and it is great to share with somebody, so definitely order it, since it goes with anything. The special waffle has the most fresh fruit and yogurt on top of soft and crisp waffle. We also ordered a tofu mix with potato, which was unique and new. It has been a good experience.

I've lived within walking distance of Linda's since 2009 and until recently the only taste I'd had was a few bites of someone else's to go order. I've always thought about going, but every time I go by there is a crowd of people outside waiting. Gee, guess it's just that good, I figured. Finally, due to a new schedule that's not your typical 9-5, I had a random weekday morning free, which is apparently the only time you can get in without a crazy wait. Just as I had suspected, there was a good reason for the wait. I was craving a bunch of protein without a big pile of potatoes on the side to fill me up fast. Luckily for me they had a special that let me have a Canadian bacon style ham steak, two eggs over medium, a side of fruit, and their muffin of the day, which was their tropical fruit. Normally I don't finish breakfast, but I inhaled it down the last crumb. This muffin- oh my goodness lemme tell ya- I may not be getting the ingredients right here, but it was some kind of bran, carrot, zucchini, raisin, pineapple, coconut goodness. If I ever go by again and don't see a dozen people waiting outside, I will excitedly head back to try something else. I might even brave the wait sometime. I am excited to go back.

I really don't understand why this place has such high reviews. We chose this place because of the reviews here on Yelp. The place is *small*, so be prepared for a long wait. We were there over a holiday weekend (Memorial Day), so that may have added to the wait. Either way, it was almost an hour. We almost (and should have) bailed earlier. The food - we had Seabreeze Spuds, Bacon Waffle, and various egg dishes (over easy and scrambled) - bland and really lacked any dimension. How this place has managed to get 4.5 stars is beyond me.

Great hometown restaurant. Great for kids. We had the Reuben special ( yummy ) and the Stuft Cheese ( with avocado/tomatos/turkey), which was also yummy. Nicely done steak cut fries also.

This is the BEST spot for brunch in Santa Cruz! The staff are always upbeat and friendly, and despite the long lines outside, the wait isn't ever too long. Coffee available as you wait outside, and truly the wait is worth it. Note, it is cramped inside, but just settle in and get cozy. Local art is displayed on the walls for you to admire. They always have delicious specials and homemade bread. The tostada with brown rice is incredible! Remember it's cash only.

  • Sheri W.

A fine breakfast spot - with an especially good cinnamon roll. The other reviewers were right about that, thanks for making sure I tried one of their perfect, just-right sweetness cinnamon roll. The rest of my breakfast was good though the home fries could have used more cooking since I like them crispier. Good bacon! Very friendly waitress. The place has a good comfortable vibe.

Hey, this is my kind of place. A tiny restaurant with people waiting to get in. When you get a seat you are treated to the best service, ever! Great food, especially the corn muffins! I really liked the fact that there are water bowls for your dog out side the restaurant. If the owners are dog lovers I know they are good folks!

Driving into Santa Cruz at 1:30 PM after a morning among the redwoods, we happened to come across the Yelp reviews and pulled into Linda's for a late lunch. We were seated right away int cozy little place. Teen 1 and I had the huevos rancheros, teen 2 a bacon cheeseburger, and wife a salad and grilled cheese with avocados and tomatoes. First came the coffee - what a relief to get not just decent but a GOOD cup of coffee. Teen 2 gave a silent thumbs up as he chomped on his burger while dripping cheese. Wife's sandwich looked and tasted great. And our huevos were awesome - ridiculously creamy and tasty homemade refrained beans topped by perfectly cooked over-easy eggs covered with homemade salsa (and half a sliced avocado!). I can tell why others have mentioned the long waits for breakfast! The service was fast and friendly. I happened to see a waitress spot a family in the parking lot headed for the cafe. Without word she pulled a high chair to the table and smoothly directed the family to the waiting table as soon as they entered the door - what a pro! I wish I was going to be around to have another meal there, and will definitely be back when I return to Santa Cruz!

This place is amazing. It's a small restaurant so expect a short wait but the breakfast is well worth it! The portions are perfect, out of this world omlettes and the potatoes are second to none. If you are in the area, Linda's is a must for breakfast!

    (5)
  • Sophia N.

Definitely great food, but don't come here if you're starving, lol. We had to wait just over an hour to get a table. They have tea and coffee outside for you to drink while you wait, which makes the time go by a little faster, but would've been nice to know how long the wait would be beforehand.

Breakfast today was a high 4. Everything was very tasty, from the tofu curry and green chile scramble to the cinnamon roll and raspberry muffin. The pastries and the breakfast potatoes didn't quite have the "Wow!" factor. I ordered fruit instead of potatoes with my entree and was presented with a very nice little salad made from a variety of fresh fruit. Good coffee, and beverages were refilled regularly & frequently. Ask for salsa--you won't be sorry!

Used to go here years ago during my high school years it was the perfect place to go after your morning surf secession... I've always remembered how awesome their muffins are. The muffins are still amazing . Made in house , and made the real way not with some cake batter ... I hate it when cupcakes get passed as muffins. Any who I had the tofu scramble 4 months ago I was not impressed... It was very bland. My husband had the huevos rancheros it was ok nothing special.

Cinnamon roll muffin, enough said. Amazing place I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered, but the wait on weekends is horrible. Highly recommend their salsa (soooo fresh and flavorful), tofu fun, potato pancakes, and any muffin but the butterscotch, which is just too sweet.

Highly recommended home cooked vibe. Seems that everything on the menu is good, and the price is very reasonable. Friendly staff. Fast service. Coffee served outside on the porch if you need to wait for a table. Seems to be a local favorite, with many long time loyal customers. Greek scramble and blueberry pancakes are bomb. Two thumbs up!

Getting to this place brought up lots of memories for me. I went to school at UCSC and in 1982 I lived just around the corner and over the bridge from this neighborhood. I have no idea if Linda's was around then; I wouldn't have had any money to eat even in a moderately priced place like this. Anyway, I came on a Thursday morning about 10:00 and when I walked in, the waitress said "Any table you like." By the time I left, though, the place had filled up and people were waiting outside. The other Yelpers are right: the cinnamon rolls are fresh-baked, fragrant, chewy, gooey and fabulous. I had one of the specials on the board, the pork sausage scramble and it was very good.

One thing I love about the Yelp community is using the reco's when I travel. Such was the case on our recent mini-vacation to Santa Cruz. Came here about 11am on a Weds morning. Line of people outside. Checked in and was told 20 min. They have coffee and benches outside to sit on so the wait was pleasant. Ordered a Denver omelet and couple of scramblers. All were very well done, cooked perfectly, plenty of goodies. What really made the breakfast was the muffins. Today, they had cinnamon rolls and butterscotch muffins. You have to ask because they're not on the menu. Thanks Yelpers for the up. The cinnamon rolls and butterscotch muffins were to die for. Made a very good breakfast great. Service was friendly and attentive. Nice, cozy decor. They also have children's books for the kids to read. Note: cash only.

Went here on Yelp recommendations and was not disappointed. Fresh food, good quantity and great quality. Had to wait 10-15 minutes on a Friday am to get in. Friendly service. Blueberry pancakes were very tasty and flavorful. Would definitely go back should we be here again.

The portions were more than fair and the table next to me had a side order of the cinnamon roll muffin thing which I couldn't bring myself to order since it was neither my birthday nor my husbands birthday, yet. But now, I wish I had! still looks great in every other picture that taunts me on Yelp :) I had the Huevos Rancheros which were called something else, sorry Seabreeze for messing up the real name, it was awesome! At first glance I was like, there is no way I'm going to finish ALL that food, but before I realized it I was at my last bite. That happens often. Husband had the ridiculous waffles with a mountain of whipped cream and fresh fruit. Once you work your way through the whipped cream and fresh fruit I promise there are waffles down there that are nice and crispy on the outside and chewy inside. This is our best memory of Santa Cruz as we were driving through. Oh! and coffee as you wait!! That is a genius idea Seabreeze. Thanks.

On the way down the coast, we ran into this cute cafe. I did not expect to receive these massive pancakes, that were delectable. If you are planning to visit be sure to have a big appetite!! The food is amazing and I would highly recommend making the stop.

This place was amazing. We walked in and got seated right away. The food came pretty fast too. I ordered the Florentine omelet and it was huge. I ordered it with turkey instead of bacon and the turkey seemed freshly carved off the bone. The potatoes were also delicious, and the side of sour cream was icing on the cake for the meal. The waitress was very friendly and willing to give us advice about our food. I would recommend coming here for breakfast if you're in Santa Cruz.

So far my favorite things about Linda's are the homemade salsa, in house roasted and sliced turkey and the clam chowder. They have a great breakfast but these few things have truly captured my heart. I need to find a way to recreate the chowder at home!

Local, affordable and quite yummy! Came here with my sister for a day trip to Santa Cruz. It is placed in an area not that far of a walk from the beach. It is a popular spot for breakfast and lunch among both tourists and locals - so make sure you come early and/or be ready to wait with some hot coffee which is placed outside! As we were seated we could immediately tell how friendly and warm the people were here. We ended up both ordering sandwiches (turkey and cheese for my sister and a stuffed grilled cheese for myself). You can definitely taste the quality of their sandwiches and who doesn't love a good ol grilled cheese (with avocado and tomato to add). They serve their meals with huge salads and plenty of potatoes. We also tried their famous cinnamon bun to finish off the meal (make sure you save some space for that). It was a great price with plenty of food and good service. Would recommend if you are stopping by Santa Cruz!

This is long overdue. I've been coming to the Breeze for over twenty years, back when Linda owned it. Coffee, awesome. Scrambles, phenomenal. Burgers, killer. Desserts, WoW. Cinnamon rolls, astronomical !!! I travel a lot and the Seabreeze is my bench mark for a quality, taste and service. Thanx Tex and Claire for all the yummy meals you have served me over the years.

Where do I begin? Apple sausage=a party in your mouth. Banana walnut pancakes=taste buds dancing and singing. And, to top it off, salsa is outstanding! Try anything. Try everything. You won't regret it.

We had a total of 4 kids under the age of 5 between 4 adults and we managed to have a great meal! that in itself is a miracle. Wait was half an hour and had the kids good and hungry. I ordered the Curry Scramble with a mango nut muffin. It was so good I did not offer it to share with anyone. I like how they had a small menu which is very helpful if you're easily distracted by other offerings. Service is very good and welcoming.

I've been going to this restaurant for over 10 years now and I have had a great experience every time. The wait staff is very friendly & helpful, and the food has always been great. They get very busy on the weekends for breakfast & brunch but offer coffee while you wait. Best breakfast spot in the Seabright area.

This was a fantastic place to eat!!! The service was good, staff are friendly, and the food was delicious! There was a bit of a wait but it went quickly & there is a help yourself coffee bar. Great home cooking w/ some healthier alternatives - tofu, egg whites, chicken sausage, etc. Just can't say enough - we will definitely be back!!!

A great breakfast place that is small, caters to everyone from carnivores to vegans, and has an array of daily specials that are actually special! They do tofu scrambles as well as egg scrambles. The place is cash only, so be prepared. They have parking and coffee on the side of the building. Put your name on the list or you'll wait in vain. When you get inside though, you're in for a treat!

Very friendly service, super attentive--my coffee was never more than half empty-- and best of all the food was delicious. Lots of vegetarian options, and even the toast and jam was exceptional. The best breakfast of our trip!

Just heard a patron say " too hungry to too full in 30 minutes" I concur! Great ice tea. The banana nut pancakes were the best. Integrated into the batter just not on top! The omelette was great too. It is a super casual local spot worth finding. Amazing!!

  • Kelly H.

This place is cute and the people are really nice. The food was decent and the portions were quite large. Yes, the cinnamon roll muffins are quite delicious! However, I just don't feel that this place warrants 4.5 stars. The food is definitely just a-ok. I probably wouldn't come back. Tip: Verve coffee is just a block behind the restaurant. That place is awesome! Get a mocha.

Great breakfast cafe. 4 1/2 stars for the following: - great healthy tasting omelettes, fruit and muffins (although I'm sure they are not healthy, they taste wonderfully fresh) - great for kids, crayons etc available - cool location, walk to beach - lots of locally sourced menu items (artichoke omelettes etc) - great coffee, local and strong - coffee while you wait with genuine ceramic mugs - friendly waitstaff Minus 1/2 star: - usually a long wait and cramped seating Love this place. CASH ONLY!!!!!

  • Anne B.

Never have I had anything less than a great breakfast there. Their eggs are always perfect. I love egg white omelets and most places cannot make a good one without burning it on the outside or leaving it raw and soft inside. The Castroville Omelet is my favorite and will be yours too if you love omelets and artichokes. Be prepared to wait if you come at a popular time, but it is worth the wait.

  • Jessica Z.

My boyfriend and I ordered breakfast to go from here on a Saturday morning. He got the Breakfast Bird omelette and I got the Florentine omelette. Both of our omelettes were moderately tasty, but they had one major flaw. His omelette comes with turkey, and mine comes with bacon. We both expected to cut into our food and see the meat cut up and mixed into the omelette, but to our surprise the meat was in one whole slab. For me the whole uncut piece of bacon wasn't too bad because the bacon was easy to mix up myself, but for my boyfriend he had to deal with cutting apart a giant piece of turkey and maneuvering it back into the omelette (essentially destroying the whole thing). This pretty much meant that he had turkey, eggs, tomato, avocado, and cheese separately which defeats the purpose of an omelette. They also said they'd give us utensils, ketchup, and salsa with our order but we received none.

4.5 rounded up to 5 stars! I had the crab salad on sourdough w/ fries and the tuna salad on sourdough w/ fries. It's got a local vibe and the staff is great. The crowd on the Thursday i was there (lunch time) was busy but not annoying. I waited no more than 10 minutes for a table and got to drink coffee on their porch while our table got set up. I will stop by again to try more of their specials.

The staff was incredible! The food was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant! My husband and our 1 year old daughter dined here Saturday morning..They we so generous they have toys and sip cups for babies! They brought out an egg for our daughter in minutes! The corned beef and hash was amazing! And my husband loved the huevos ranch!

It's a good breakfast spot, not too crazy on a Sunday morning. My bf had a huge Denver omelet but it had so many bell peppers he seemed disappointed. I had the cornbeef and hash, which I don't recommend. I think they used their potatoes from a scramble with the smallest amount of beef as possible. Weird mix of flavors with peppers, onions, and mushrooms... Not sure I'll go back but they were super nice and attentive.

OMG this place is awesome. The staff is so friendly it's a quaint little restaurant, looks almost like a house that was converted. The food was delicious we had Denver omelet's, they were huge and stuffed with veg. The home potatoes were so tasty. I had the cinnamon roll, my friend had the peach cobbler muffin both were warm, moist and flavorful. We even got to listen to the lady next to us gossiping on her phone and blabbing about botox, she was quite entertaining for breakfast. LOL would highly recommend this place.

If you want a wonderful breakfast experience, eat at Linda's Seabreeze Cafe. I went here with my girlfriend early one morning because of the Yelp reviews. I now have a new favorite place for breakfast. We were a little dismayed at the price of the omelets and asked to split one - they said no problem, and within five minutes of ordering, voila! We each had a giant plate of omelet, toast, home fries, and bacon. And constant refills of coffee. And delicious, various flavors of jam. We didn't get the cinnamon buns, so I can't speak to that, but I can speak to the fact that the service and speed were amazing, the portion size was ridiculously generous, and that we split (without any fee) a single omelet and were both stuffed silly afterward. Definitely go here if you have a hankering for a cozy breakfast in Seabright.

We had the corn beef hash and oatmeal. The meal was delicious and fast! The oatmeal was light fresh and healthy! We are grateful for our meal and hope you have the chance to experience the cozy deliciousness if this cafe!

Fresh tasting breakfast food at this cafe. I've become weary of places with the word 'cafe' in their name just because it's too often that I've had a stale pastry, bitter coffee, or a flavorless breakfast entree at a "cafe". I'm glad that Linda's was enjoyable because I had been wanting to drop by. I ordered some blueberry buckwheat pancakes and 3 of them was actually WAY too much. I felt bad for wasting food so a smaller portion would have been preferred. Overall, this is a nice place for a bite in a lovable neighborhood. On a Tuesday afternoon there was no wait, the service was fast, and all of the workers were very sweet ;).

Everything was great! Great service, got my special requests right, huge portions and the little one loved the presentation of her pancake. (She insisted I take the picture I posted.) Minus a star b/c wish the wait wasn't so loooooong...not sure you can blame them for that!

Great VERY quick food. We sat, ordered and 5-10mins later we had our food. They do kind of a "team" effort in service which is great! You have prompt service and a very kind staff! The food was EXCELLENT! One thing I feel is very very necessary to point out....this restaurant has 12 tables, it is a small local intimate cafe. Do not expect to be here at 10am and get seated quickly! It is NOT the staffs fault if people stay a while and enjoy themselves, the service is prompt and so is the food so if tables take a while to turn the wait will be longer. It's a great place!! But you need to come early or come with patience. The early bird gets the worm :)

We choose this place based on the reviews. There were people waiting outside so we figured the reviews were right. We waited about 35-40 mins and had coffee that was average, while we waited. (Not free as , $2.25) We got seated and the specials were pointed out to us. I have the corn beef hash with eggs over medium. Eggs were over easy at best and the hash had tomato and green peppers in it and what seemed to be cream or something else In it. Never had it that way before. In the end it had no flavor. My wife had the a fried egg, apple sausage and a cinnamon roll that was under baked, kind of doughy inside. Overall, we were disappointed. And as we left the cops were setting a speed trap across the street. Just the icing on the cake. If this is the best place in the area, lord help the rest.

She asked if I wanted all three pancakes. In truth, two would have been a lot of pancakes, but three was a gracious plenty. I did get all three, and may have justified the splurge, but maybe not. They were peach and pecan, and they had that spongy, fluffy feel that a good syrup-soaker has. I recommend them. Also, I asked for my bacon burned, which they did, just right. And I arrived at 7:40 a.m. on a Sunday but there was room to park (I imagine there might not always be, and the parking lot is...intimately sized) and a window table, so I could watch Santa Cruz, from the dayflowers and black bumblebees to the dogwalkers. While I ate, people walked in, embraced each other, and the proprietors. I recommend it highly.
